  • Infomercial

I was very excited that my bookclub has chosen this book as I am a strong believer in meditation and love to learn new methods. However I was extremely disappointed in this book. In fact not one person in our group of about 15 people liked it. It read like an infomercial. The start of the book seemed promising as it explained the way meditation can affect the brain, however it soon turned into a celebrity name dropping infomercial. If you want to learn about Trancendential Meditation, I recommend google. Also when I looked up the local TM Center for costs, I was astonished to find the cost to be $1310 for what essentially works out to be 7 hours instruction ( which is approximately $187 per hour) This was shocking to me considering the book talks about how beneficial TM is to underserved kids in intercity children. After reading the book, myself and my bookclub felt it was nothing more than spending money to buy an advertisement. Save your money and use Google.

    Thanks for your feedback!
