  • Excellent - Can't wait for book 3

Stronger Than You Know by Lori Foster The McKenzies of Ridge Trail #2 Packed a powerful punch hooking me on page one and keeping me invested till the very end. This is a series I can see reading again in the future. What I liked: * Kennedy Brooks: strong, resilient, survivor, public speaker, giving, caring, cautious, special – so deserving of love and a good man…like Reyes * Reyes McKenzie: gym owner, lethal, skilled in more than one area, reliable, protective, focused, has a temper, not ready to settle down…or is he? * Reyes family: older brother Cade and his wife Sterling, sister Madison, father Parrish, butler Bernard, and Chimera – the cat * The family business that deals with and without the authorities – they save trafficked persons and provide for them afterward. * The story, way it was written, location, and way it drew me in * Jodi: friend of Kennedy’s, vigilante of sorts, a bit broken, has potential, hope she gets help. * The connection between Reyes and Kennedy * The tender careful way Reyes was with kennedy * The way the McKenzie family worked as a unit and interacted when on the job and when not * Getting to see how Cade and Sterling were doing * Having a glimpse and introduction to who Madison will be with and fall for in book three of the series * Knowing that there is a book three to look forward to * The happy ending for Reyes and Kennedy * That the bad guys were dealt with…had no sympathy for any of them. What I didn’t like: * Knowing that trafficking is real and too many experience it without being saved * The baddiies in the story that I was meant to dislike * Having to say goodbye and now wait for the next book to be ready Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely Thank you to NetGalley and HQN for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

  • Kennedy is strong than she realizes.

Kennedy is stronger than she realizes. When she needs help, she turns to Reyes. Someone is after her, she needs a secure place to stay and Reyes is more than happy to help. Reyes has been attracted to Kennedy since he first saw her but she puts out a do not touch vibe, so he left her alone. It turns out that it is the person who abducted Kennedy years before is after her now. He has teamed up with another trafficker who has some really good resources. They are also after another woman who is friends with Kennedy. Can Reyes and his family keep them safe? Will they ever be able to live a normal life? Reyes never thought he wanted happily ever after, but he is changing his mind. Will Kennedy stay with him when all this is over?

  • Can love survive?

I'm so glad I stuck with the series, as I wasn't a fan of the first book. This book kept me on the edge of my seat with non-stop action. Kennedy was a much more likeable victim and I enjoyed the interaction with Reyes. Although still a book regarding human trafficking and it's victims it wasn't as " in your face" as book 1. Lori still dealt with a difficult issue with honesty and sensitivity. It was fun to get updates on Parrish, the matriarch as well as Cade , Star, and Madison. The relationship between Crosby and Madison gave a great introduction to the next book in the series and I can't wait.! Although part of a series this story can be read as a standalone story, but why would you want to! I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

  • Heartbreaking & Hopeful

Kennedy has been putting her life back together after escaping being held by human traffickers. She does public speaking and writes books to help educate woman on how to avoid and fight back if being abducted. Coming home from a speaking event she finds her apartment on fire. Thankfully she was smart enough to cal Reyes. Reyes knows something has happened to Kennedy so he watches her when she is at the gym. Something about her sparks something in him. When Kennedy calls him for help he jumps at the chance. Kennedy is determined not only to help others but also her friend Jodi. Thankfully the McKenzies are there to do just that. I loved Kennedy’s strength and determination. Reyes and Kennedy are such a perfect match. Thank you Lori for bringing more light to Human Trafficking. This is a huge problem and women need to educate and protect themselves.

  • Another fantastic story!

Book 2 in the McKenzies of Ridge Trail was another wonderful read. This is Reyes McKenzie and Kennedy Brook’s story, who we met in Book 1. To say Kennedy is a survivor is an understatement. She escapes after being kidnapped by human traffickers and made something of herself. She is a professional speaker going around the country to cover the dangers of human trafficking. I was in awe of her resilience and strength. After a speaking engagement she comes home to her house being burned down. Not quite knowing why, but her first thought was to call Reyes, knowing he would help her. I loved how Reyes immediately was by her side and was determined to keep her safe. He had felt their connection early on but now that he knew her story and his own commitment issues, he did not see them going anywhere. But as dangers mount against Kennedy and the close proximity to each other, their attraction becomes undeniable. I loved the interactions between Reyes and Kennedy but I was thrilled to see the McKenzie family dynamic and how they just pulled Kennedy into their family. This book had suspense, drama, and so much heart. I really enjoyed it. I am now really looking forward to reading Madison’s story next.
