This one struck the right note!

I know I'm not alone when I say that I've been waiting for Drew's book. I think there are many fans of RVD and the Seaside/Seaside Pictures series that were waiting for this guy to meet his match and in true RVD fashion, she struck the exact right note! Drew Amherst is one of the lead singers of Adrenaline and of late, he's also been the mentor for Braden Connors, the newest it guy to hit the music scene. Drew has had a tumultuous past, a lot of which he wishes he could forget, and that has caused him to be misunderstood, feel a tremendous amount of guilt and shame and on many occasions, it makes him feel very much alone. He wants to be happy like everyone around him, but he's not and he's not sure exactly how to get to that place. Bronte Connors is the mother of Braden and she also has two daughters, one of which is already out of the house and then Amelia who is still at home. Bronte was a young mother who was left divorced and alone to raise three children. She's done a great job, but in the process she's neglected herself and put all of her focus into her kids. It's time for her to focus on herself, but will she really do it? Oh and let's not forget that Bronte has had a crush on Drew since high school! When Braden leaves for his honeymoon, he doesn't want his Mom to spend her birthday alone, so he gives in to the suggestion that Drew spend time with her even though he's repeatedly asked him to stop hitting on her! Once the two start spending time together are they really going to be able to just be friends? Or will it turn into something more? I absolutely adore this group of people! This can be read as a standalone, but to have the other band members in the story, it just made me smile. That text conversation was EVERYTHING! Amelia is also another bright spot in the book. Her relationship with Drew is awesome and the whole Not-Dad thing was inspired. I enjoyed watching these two people who have been so broken in the past help one another to become closer to whole again. Great work by RVD and you definitely need to pick this one up. It will be a great summer read!

    a rockstar romance

4.5 STARS Surrender is the 4th full length novel in the Seaside Pictures Series and it was my absolute favourite of them all! It can be read as standalone but personally I am so glad I binged this series over the last 2 weeks because knowing the other characters and their stories made it a better reading experience. I have been eagerly awaiting Drew’s story since he was introduced in Steal (Will and Angelica’s story) and Rachel did not disappoint. This is a fast read that I devoured in one sitting. I cannot imagine a better match than Bronte was for Drew! She got him from the beginning. She sees through his humor and the sexy rocker bad boy image he gives off. She sees a real human-being that is covering up a painful past. This cover is PERFECTION. I can’t imagine a better depiction of Drew! Look at all those sexy tattoos. But Drew is so much more than his his bad boy image and tattoos. Deep down he is the sweetheart I knew he would be but snarky, sexy and irresistible too. “It doesn’t matter if you’re broken, because none of us are whole. Wholeness is a lie people believe when they can’t handle the truth. And every single part of you, even the ones you try to hide or are ashamed of—I want those too. So that when I choose you, every single time you choose me, you’re choosing the pretty along with the poison. Wherever love exists, pain must also be present.” -Bronte I absolutely loved all the banter from the band members. Their hilarious text messages back and forth had me dying of laughter! Rachel Van Dyken blows me away with everything she writes. Her diversity as an author is out of this world. Her writing is the absolute best! If you are looking for a second chance, funny, make you swoon rockstar romance this is for you! *ARC received in exchange of an honest review.

    New to Seaside

This is the first book in this series that I have read and can truly say that this can be read as a standalone, but now I want to go and read the whole series.  After reading this, you will too! Surrender is the story of Drew and Bronte.  Two more mature characters with life experience and wisdom that shapes them to the people they are. Bronte is a single mom, she had her children early in life. She totally missed out on the fun and foibles of her teenage years because of motherhood. But she took to motherhood like a champ and raised some exceptional kiddos, with no help from an ex. Drew...oh my swoon...he is determined to help Bronte get her groove back in any way possible.  He is the epitome of a long term rock star that has changed his ways but feels like his baggage is his alone to carry.  But Bronte wants to help him unpack all that negativity. What once started as a short term relationship was beautiful to read as it became so much more!  The dialogue was full of wit and heat and I couldn't put this story down until the very end! Now I am going to go buy the rest of the series to see all the stories from the secondary characters in this one!

    Beautiful rockstar romance

Surrender is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, Drew and Bronte's story is a rockstar romance, one you will be hooked up from the start and keep on reading, you will laugh and have your heart squeezed in more ways than one. You will enjoy every page of this book, it has it all you need to have a great time. You will fall in love with Drew, their banter and chemistry will get to you, an incredible story that will teach you how life gives you the unexpected and yet you can change the course of your life. A fantastic 5 star read, I would love to hear this one on audiobook someday to experience it all over again.

Perfect blend of romance, redemption & love

Drew has lived a life and come out the other side with a clearer perspective but he doesn’t believe he deserves or is worthy of love. Bronte has been a single mother for years and always puts her children first. Drew has always found Bronte sexy but she is the mom to his protégé, Braden, so he’s always stayed away. When an opportunity presents itself for him to show Bronte just how amazing she truly is, well, he jumps at the chance. Drew and Bronte are wonderful together but Drew has put an end date on their time together. Will he open his heart to more? So much fun experiencing this journey with Drew and Bronte. Amelia, Bronte’s daughter, is the perfect balance to keep Drew on his toes and gave so many laugh-out-loud moments. I have to admit this is my first Seaside story and I now need to devour the rest of the series.
