Loved it! Dark, Sexy and Addictive!

What a great dystopian story! The Captain is one of my all time favorite anti-heroes. He is bad, does some awful things but has a good side. Eugenia is an extremely smart woman navigating a world where men brutalize women and at best treat them as property. This story would be great even without the romance. But then you would miss all the steamy scenes that will make you squirm in your seat. Sexy, sexy, sexy!! I couldnt put this book down!

    So...good...

SWALLOW IT DOWN was a surprise release by Addison Cain and boy did she manage to tic all the boxes on what I think is a great dystopian romance(ish) story. She brings Eugenia’s level of snark to such a fantastic level, I found myself highlighting them as I read. The one about foreplay made me laugh so hard, I scared the cats and hurt my throat. The story is well-plotted out and moves at a comfortable pace despite all the discomfort Ms. Cain puts us through. Eugenia is truly a strong female lead and her thought process and emotions through it all were fab. The characters, the scenario, the romance(ish) were all absolute page turners and I loved every single word of it.

    Scary Good!

Daaaaaaaang! This book has me all kinds of messed up but you know how Cain is... She mixes the naughty with just enough nice to keep her readers begging for more. A searing love story that will put others to shame. This one hit so close to our reality today, it's scary good.

    Hot post-apocalyptic romance!

In Swallow it Down Addison Cain introduces us to a post-apocalyptic world that nightmares are made of and an unlikely couple that find complicated love in the midst of death and destruction. I absolutely loved this story and might even go so far as to say that it's one my absolute favorites by Ms. Cain. Eugenia is an amazing heroine - strong, smart and capable yet with a romantic soul and a vulnerable and slightly naive heart. Aaron is a very complicated character who pushes every boundary and certainly doesn't have many qualms about doing whatever he has to to get what he wants, be it Eugenia or ensuring survival in this new world. The chemistry between these two characters is apparent from the very beginning. But I appreciated the fact that Addison really built up to the climax (pun intended:) of their relationship. The struggle that Eugenia endures as she battles both Aaron and her own feelings felt very real and heartbreaking. Aaron had some very heartbreaking moments of his own, though they were not as apparent as Eugenia's, they were even more poignant in some ways. The cast of side characters is very well developed and I wouldn't mind getting some of their stories. In true Addison Cain fashion, we get thrown quite a few twists and OMG moments that I absolutely loved. Aside from the brutal yet beautiful love story, this is the kind of book that will make you think about morality, right and wrong and how all those lines get blurred for the sake of survival. I feel like I could go on and on about how much I loved this book, but I will wrap this up by saying that it's an absolute must for any fan of Ms. Cain's writing!

    Dark and steamy dystopia

Swallow it Down is an amazing dystopian HEA that no one saw coming. The world is dark and gritty and so very believable. I wanted to know more, all the nitty gritty history which lead up to this wasteland, and everything which happened since. The allusions to it were tantalizing and I was constantly trying to puzzle out where in the world we were at times, though by the and there's a much better idea of what place this story occupied. As for the characters, the Captain was every bit an bad man with good intentions, and a good cause, but willing to do anything to reach that cause. Eugenia was a great strong woman who learned her own weakness and learned how to accept the world that was and not the world which had been. I think the brushes with PTSD and other aspects of physical and mental health were a nice touch, as so few stories ever dig into that aspect of the human condition in such a setting. Its a great story filled with dark and light, and all the shades of grey in between. The fact there is a Happily Ever After was great to see, but it felt organic and not forced, as it it did indeed come naturally in this dark, dying world, with such flawed characters. Fair warning, there are triggers aplenty for those faint of heart but if you like darker romance tales, or dystopia with an erotic twist, then this will be a great story to pick up.
