Three sisters and their father all react in pain to the death of their mother and wife. However, it is Violet that holds the family together, despite putting her own dreams and desires on one side to meet the needs of her family. As the peacemaker between her sisters and her father's assistant and housekeeper, Violet has buried her own needs so deep that panic overwhelms her on a regular basis. Ted understands her situation better than she could have anticipated and as he slowly reaches out to her, she finds herself examining her life and her future. The story is sad in many ways, but there is also some humour, as well as romance as Ted and Violet find their way towards each other. The story is generally well written with a good plot and kept my interest. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

  • Real characters

A solid read. Ted and Violet are not your typical hero/heroine, which made them so much more interesting to read about. They both are trying to strike out on their own, overcome personal obstacles and maybe even find romance. With issues that were more or less true to life, these flawed characters are so much easier to empathize with! There were several places that the proofreader/editor missed grammar, word choice and spelling. Other than that, the novel was quite easy to read. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery.
