Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis

Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis The first in a new contemporary romance series about a group of friends living in San Francisco and finding love. It's centered around a fountain in a courtyard that's said to grant wishes. This is Finn's story. Finn and his brother Sean own a pub and when Pru walks in, Finn is smitten. Pru is on a mission and that's to put some fun into Finn's life. It's her wish for him that sets them on a path of love. I loved this romance. It was fun, touching and heartfelt. I was engaged and living their lives from the first page to the last. Love isn't always a straight path and these friends have created their own family on their journey. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

Jill Shalvis is on a roll again!

It was a cold and rainy evening, and nothing was going right for Pru Harris. Her fridge was empty, so she went to O’Riley’s Pub for some comfort food, or more like, to gawk at Finn O’Riley. For three weeks, Pru has been ogling the sexy, unattainable barkeep, and although they both live in the same apartment building, they haven’t talked much. Finn doesn’t know how to have fun, and his brother Sean asks Pru to show Finn how. Finn works so much, he doesn’t even really have time for hook-ups. Pru has a devastating secret, and one day at a wishing fountain, she wishes for Finn to find love because she thinks he really deserves it; she doesn’t wish it for herself, and that is who Pru is. Pru is such a delightful character! She’s a real klutz, but she means well, and she goes after what she wants. Finn is very serious, but he is absolutely adorable. The way Pru and Finn really connect is pure Jill Shalvis, and will have me laughing for a long time. Amidst all the laughter though, there is a heartbreaking story regarding Pru’s secret, and I felt it was masterfully handled by Ms. Shalvis. I often cringe when a character fails to mention something important, but here it worked well, and it’s easy to understand how and why it happened. Ms. Shalvis is at her best humorous self in SWEET LITTLE LIES, and yet some of my favourite parts of the book were where it got serious. The characters are engaging, Pru’s motley crew of neighbours is just fabulous, and it was beautiful to watch Pru and Finn’s relationship blossom, as it was to witness several wonderful friendships. Jill Shalvis is as flawless as ever, and the steamy bits are absolutely lovely. SWEET LITTLE LIES is a delight for any Jill Shalvis fan! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    Liar, liar pants on fire.

Pru lied and Finn set her pants on fire! Pru and Finn are a match made in heaven. A wishing fountain that works part-time, basement poker games and an old pot smoking homeless man are just a few things you will find in Heartbreaker Bay. Oh and hot, hot men!

    Wonderful Contemporary Romance

Heartwarming and happy making is just what this book is! Ms. Shalvis has created characters I was drawn to, became friends with and am eager to spend more time with AND this is just what I plan to do with each new book that comes out in this series. Pru Harris captains a cruise boat that takes tours out on the water in San Francisco. She is a warm, giving, self-assured woman who wants Finn O’Riley and his brother Sean to be happy. Why she wants this is a secret that remains a secret to Finn till nearly the end of the book. Finn is very aware of Pru from the very first moment she steps into his pub. He knows her favorites without being asked and eventually makes a move that will see the two of them become friends then move on to more. The only thing that might disrupt their growing relationship is “the secret”. This was a story I started this morning and could not put down. I loved the writing, the relationship of Finn and Pru, the friendships that were so supportive and caring and the happiness this book has left me with at the end of the day. I would like to thank the author and Morrow Marketing for the copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
