    An Addictive & Awe-Inspiring Adventure!

4.5/5 Stars | Hot Steam In a blissful flurry of excitement and eager anticipation, I flew through Kresley Cole’s latest IAD sensation—on the edge of my seat—laughing, crying, swooning and positively savoring every single spectacular word. Thrillingly perfect, impossibly imaginative, scorching hot and utterly romantic, I absolutely could not tear myself away from Josie and Rune’s addictive and awe-inspiring adventure. With each turn of the page, Cole’s hilarious cheek, sensual genius and unparalleled storytelling charmed, enthralled and endlessly entertained me. My pulse raced with tense trepidation, swelling emotion, burning desire and sheer ecstasy from start to finish. Josie is a one-of-a-kind heroine and my new favorite of the series. Street-smart, scrappy, sharp and brave, she’s a spitfire who wields unfathomable powers and abilities all the while remaining vulnerable, innocent, sensitive and starry eyed. Endearingly lovable, I cheered her on as she steadily evolved into the emboldened and breathtaking creature she was always destined to become. In no time at all, I was irrevocably attached and affected by her euphoric triumphs and heart-wrenching setbacks. But, I never feared for too long because, when it comes down to it, Josie can be straight-up mayhem unleashed! Those fantastic scenes where she shocks and obliterates her formidable adversaries! So, so satisfying! Get ‘em Jo-Jo! I enjoyed reading them just as much as I adored reading her world being throughly rocked by her insatiable and sexy-as-sin dark fey assassin, Rune. And Rune. Holy Mother of Book Boyfriends—you broke the blessed mold on that one! Rune is everything I crave in a great hero with the skills, hunger, passion and voracity of a sizzling Lorean consumed with desire! Ah, so delicious! Rune is also frustratingly—and humorously—arrogant and set in his manwhore-on-a-mission ways. Unused to feeling anything at all but blood lust and retribution, tenderness, attachment and–God forbid–monogamy are foreign to his ancient and stubborn mind. He tries so hard to deny his visceral reaction to Josie, but, as their primal connection weakens his resolve and her fate and heart become forever entwined with his own… Love isn’t a big enough word for what I was feeling for him and them together as an unstoppable couple. Bottom Line: Make a space on your keeper shelf and get ready to rejoice and revel in this must-read masterpiece! Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

Two rare immortals complete each other

I was waiting impatiently for the next book in the Immortals after Dark series, how the story continues, especially for Nix. At the beginning, I needed some time to get back into the writing, because I have read too many other books in the meantime, but Kresleys writing style is great. The book starts with Rune, a dark fey and you are left in the dark at the beginning how he fits into the Lorean, Vertas, picture. Also you are introduced to a little girl, Josephine, who has no idea what she is, what her brother might be and how all of that is related. As always you can truly feel with the main characters. You are getting a lot of background around them during the book and therefore you understand why they act the way they do. Those unlikely creatures meet each other by incident, the dark fey that is thousands of years old with a lot of experience and knowledge about Loreans and the young girl with no knowledge about herself and the other beings. While observing him and later meeting him, she steals a trinket. He is mad about it and also wants her for his pleasure. Bumping into each other, jumping to false conclusions and hiding a lot from each other, they meet again and she drinks his blood. After that he wants to keep her locked up in order to prevent her from unraveling and making known his secrets by dreaming his memories. As you can assume, she is not happy about it. Only relying on herself, she wants to win the upper hand and get free of him and he wants to keep her under control and his secrets safe. They fight each other on their, forced, way together. The story develops and you learn again a big deal about Nix and this time about Thad as well. Rune and Josephine have to work together and learn from each other to achieve their goals. As always, this book is a fast-paced, fun, captivating story and a page-turner. Like all of the books, I could not put it down and read it in one go. Recommended to read!! But I would read them in order. They are standalones, but the big story goes through the books. When I started with the first book, I kept reading the next one and the next and so on. Kresley never disappointed and the stories she creates are just awesome, always different, always interesting and always with strong fierce independent characters.

    Amazing!

I gotta say, I was very sad that I didn’t love the last book in the series, DARK SKYE—Lanthe and Throno’s story. Mainly because Lanthe’s character and past—and current—behavior really rubbed me the wrong way. So I was unsure how I’d feel about this new book, especially since the main characters were never heard of or even mentioned in previous books of the series. After finishing SWEET RUIN, I will be begging and pleading Kresley Cole for more! Jo and Rune’s story was “specter-tactular”! I absolutely LOVED IT! Jo is a strong, snarky female Lorean—creature of the Lore—and I loved her. Her wicked mouth and constant ribbing of Rune had me laughing out loud on several occasions! Jo is kick-ass hybrid that’s also a hopeful romantic and is in desperate need to feel loved and be a part of a family. Her brother Thad—who’s made several appearances in the series—was taken from her year ago and although it was for the best, Jo’s heart aches to be reunited with the one person she loves more than anything. That is, until she meets an irresistible dark fey with a penchant for nymphs and blood so poisonous that it’s lethal to human and immortal beings…well, except Jo. Rune is sex incarnate. He’s also an archer, assassin and keeper of secrets for The Møriør—an alliance of otherworldly beings, the strongest and oldest of each species. Rune has been tasked by Orion the Undoing—leader of The Møriør—to bring in the head of a certain bat-shit crazy Valkyrie. During the mission, Rune encounters the sweetest smelling female. She’s also short, voluptuous and is pierced in several places, most where he cannot see but soon hopes to discover. Needless to say, Rune underestimates the powerhouse that is Jo and the pair fall into a dangerous dance of power, sexual heat and provocative proclivities. Jo and Rune soon become temporary allies when faced with a mutual enemy. What happens next is an extraordinary story full of action, adventure and sexual awakening full of an explosively passionate inferno heavily laced in forbidden pleasures. Holy Wet wipes, Batman! You’ll definitely need a cool down after reading several of Jo and Rune’s scenes together. The couple literally burn up the pages with their dangerously unbridled lusts. Not only is the heat level set to scorching, there’s also an exciting storyline filled with characters old and new. I’m so excited to witness this new direction Ms. Cole is taking with the series and I think other fans will also agree! I’m in desperate need to know who the next book is about so I hope Ms. Cole doesn’t keep the news to herself for too much longer. It would be a nice Christmas present for the fans *hint hint* SWEET RUIN is hands down the steamiest book of the series. I absolutely loved it and I know many other readers will as well. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
