    Loved it!

Loved it!! Classic Marquita Valentine with a touching love story at the core, surrounded by sizzling hot sexy times! Rowan and Seth's story got me emotionally right from the start. The heartbreak, pain and anger felt by both of these characters jumps from the pages. When Seth finally realizes all that he's lost, he knows it won't be an easy road but it is the only path he can travel. This story is perfectly written and one you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it!

    Falling Hurts

Seth O'Connor and Rowan Simmons were high school sweethearts. After a night of racing and fun, Seth and Rowan's brother go to jail. Things change for everyone after this happens. Seth gets out after serving his 9 months and goes into the military. He does not see Rowan again for about 7 years. He shuts her out of his life and then regrets come later on. She has moved on and now works and lives with his grandmother. Coming home after his grandmother dies, Seth realizes he has things to fix and change. Rowan cannot seem to forgive his leaving her when she needed him the most. It was not so much that he became a Marine, as it is he did not want any contact with her. Once he is back home they have much to go over. The will, the business, the house, and yes, even their feelings. They are still drawn to one another. The chemistry is as HOT as if it was yesterday. Rowan is afraid she will get hurt. Last time he cut her off it devastated her. If he does it again it could literally kill her. She just cannot stay away. He is like a drug. Can love really help them? Since it never went away... ***This ARC copy was given free from Netgalley.com and its publisher, for review purposes. True love at it's finest

MUST READ!!!! over all the story is a romance with pain and lost and long time friendships lost but found again. Love story like nothing before. I really enjoyed the past and present story of true love finding each other again after so much hurt and pain. The trust that the main characters had to instill in each other was earth shattering. Once I started reading this novel I couldn't stop for the life of me, I loved every single word and page. Not my first time reading from this author but there are no words for what I really think about this amazing story. This author once again has won me over and over. I wanted more by teh time I reached the end of the story I couldn't believe how soon it was over. I craved more so bad. ***I received this story for free in exchange for an honest review, see more of my review @ Whispered Thoughts ***

I liked it, but I didn't love it.

I liked the premise for this story; I really enjoy second chance at love stories, and I did like the characters, but I didn't love them. Rowan was a bit crazy, and I like that she's a strong woman, but she overreacts too much. I liked Seth, and how determined he is, and how he doesn't give up, but I don't really get why he was so pissed at Rowan. In this book Seth is sent to prison for some months, and then is forced to join the Marines, so he can have early release from prison. The fact that he was forced to join the military is just insane to me, and he must of had a horrible lawyer because Seth and others involved got crazy sentences. The chemistry between Rowan and Seth was really great, and I think they are a great match for each other, but I did want some more romance scenes and relationship building scenes, rather than just sex scenes. There are those scenes, but I would've liked a bit more. Rowan is very stubborn, and somewhat childish, so be prepared to get frustrated with how much she is really bratty, and I just have to say Seth is a saint for putting up with her attitude, and I will say Rowan is a bit justified in being weary of trusting Seth, so I understand where she is coming from, but it was very over the top a lot of the time. I think I'll read the next book, I'm thinking it will be Jase and Piper's story; Jase is Rowan's brother. I don't really like Jase because he sleeps around with very skeezy women; he talks about getting a blow job from a coked-out stripper, and so he doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. Piper is Rowan's best friend, who has a crush on Jase, and she doesn't seem to care that he sleeps with all these gross women; she's a doormat when it comes to him, so I don't know I don't think I'll like the characters very much in that book. I suppose Piper will have room to grow, but I just don't like the idea of her skulking around watching Jase sleep with all these women; she needs to get some self confidence and realize she's worth more than that, and Jase also needs to grow up. Jase thinks he is trash, and I think, that's why he doesn't think he deserves any better than some loose women. So, since I have high hopes for growth from both characters, I'm going to try to get past the horrible beginning scenes in their book.

    An emotional but fun ride

After serving time in prison and in the military, all for a crime he didn't commit, Seth has an awfully big chip on his shoulder. But the girl he loved before everything went to hell has never left his heart — no matter how much he tried to push her away. He's back now, though, and he's determined to win her over again. But Rowan isn't a starry-eyed sixteen-year-old anymore, and the walls Seth put up when he went to prison hurt her more than she's willing to admit. The Verdict: I knew going in that a major plot point was Seth having been convicted of a crime he didn't commit, but I had no idea how realistically it would play out. Not necessarily the golden boy, he'd been illegally street racing, after which a fight broke out that quickly escalated to involve a gun. It was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, with all the wrong circumstances working against him, and before he knew it, he was tossed into a cell to serve out a sentence for essentially having terrible luck. But unlike what we usually see in romances with a similar plot twist, Seth's circumstances feel absolutely possible, like the kind of thing that happens to kids all the time, just victims of circumstance and a turn they didn't see coming. Seth's short sentence was contingent upon his enlisting in the military, so the minute he was released, he traded prison orange for camouflage and was sent off to boot camp and war. Years have passed, and he's nearly done with his enlistment term when his grandmother dies, sending him home to plan a funeral and oversee whatever estate she's left behind. Rowan is the girl Seth fell in love with as a wild teen, but when he and her brother were sent away to serve time, he was consumed with anger, and much of it was directed at Rowan. Ever faithful, she came to visit and sent him letters, but he quickly let her know that he wanted nothing to do with her, breaking her heart and leaving her feeling very much alone at the confusing age of sixteen. Sad and senseless as it was, this was another part of the story that made perfect sense from the side of gritty realism. The miscarriage of justice tends to breed anger and a sense of me-against-the-world, turning its victims against even those who would help them and darkly coloring their reactions to anything decent that's left. Seth wasn't an angel, but he was a decent kid who got screwed by circumstance and the system, and he took it out on the one person he could — the girl he loved. Seth's return to civilian life sets these two on a collision course that's filled with conflicting emotions and white-hot attraction. Rowan's never been a shrinking violet, and when faced with the guy who turned on her and left her alone to find her way in a world where her boyfriend and brother were both in prison, she's not letting down her guard easily. He may have been the one eaten alive by anger, but she's lived her damage, too, and she's not going to make things easy on him. Watching these two navigate their new reality and the minefields that are left in their hearts makes for plenty of drama and emotion, and it was impossible to stop turning pages. Marquita Valentine has created characters that are wonderfully flawed and complex and put them in a true-to-life situation that would test even the strongest hearts. Finding their way through it and coming out on happily ever after side was an emotional but fun ride. Next up is her brother's story, pairing him up with prudish Piper, the only friend who stuck around when a teenage Rowan was separated from her brother and boyfriend, and I can tell you now that the November release date simply can't come soon enough! ***FicCentral received this book from Random House LLC (via NetGalley) for free in exchange for an honest review.
