  • A Tasty Delight

This is the third book I've read by contemporary romance novelist, DK Marie. In this love conquers all rendition, Will and Cindy face difficult decisions and real life situations. I could clearly see any modern couple having some of these same exact arguments. Will is a recovering addict and chef who dreams of opening his own restaurant; Cindy is a self-absorbed high society girl who makes her living as a model but really wants more out of her life. They are a very unlikely pair. This is the third book in DK's Opposites Attract Collection. (Check out the others, they're well done!) I really admire DK's style, wit, and charm when she comes to creating characters. I'll have to say, as much as I loved Will, I hated Cindy just as much. She came across as arrogant, self-absorbed, and egotistical. She knows she's hot. In fact, I wanted Will to dump Cindy. But towards the end, DK with her masterful way to weave a scene had me rooting for both Will & Cindy. It still left some questions unanswered for me, especially with the parent/daughter dynamic of Cindy and her mother, but I'd like to think that she, too, eventually comes around and sees Will for the human being he has become and not the drug addict he was. It was a pretty quick read with an HEA that was both expected and satisfying. DK's bedroom scenes are what one would expect from a romance artist as she invites us in, gives us all the warm fuzzies, but doesn't go over the top with explicitly bordering on erotica. I look forward to DK's next release as her books bring me sunshine in a gloomy world and makes me smile.
