    possible stand alone

Book 14 in this series contains a brief synopsis of each of the previous books handled in a manner that does not bog down the current plot - quite a feat! This gives new readers the character background to be able to connect with Ali Reynolds, making this a possible stand alone. A fertility doctor's shortcuts are revealed when a young man's search for a kidney donor turns up a look-a-like and eventually eighteen young people whose DNA says they are half siblings. Seeking revenge for his life without parole sentence for the murder-for-hire death of his first wife, Edward Gilcrest creates his A for annihilate list that includes Ali Reynolds. Fast paced thriller where technology plays a huge part in digging up the truth and spying in real-time with the help of Fritz (an AI).

    Excellent book!

J.A. Jance aka Ali Reynolds at their best. Story line holds the audiences attention; do not want to put it down. I would higher recommend reading this book.

Great addition to the Ali Reynolds series

You never know if something in your past will wend its way back and impact your life now. This is what The A List by J.A. Jance brought home to me. Years ago, Ali Reynolds did a human-interest story on a young man who was dying of kidney disease and needed a transplant. The young man’s mother had difficulty conceiving and went to a fertility specialist. Since she’s used donated sperm for the insemination, she thought perhaps there was someone else who’d used another sample from the same donor. A half-sibling would possibly be a better match for her son. In a near nuclear information explosion, there were MANY half-siblings. The doctor cheated, and the Progeny Project was formed. This book is a great next chapter in Ali Reynolds life. Love, disappointment, murder, incarceration, and ultimately redemption all make appearances in The A List! For much of the book, Ali is just an aside. I would have liked a bit more Ali in this book. The back and forth between present day, when the human-interest story aired, the beginning of the ‘list’, and the prison scenes was a bit disjointed in the beginning. The story shone through and by the end of the book I was totally involved with all the characters. It was nice to see some of the characters from earlier Ali Reynolds books included here. Frigg is the bomb!! I always enjoy catching up with ‘people’ we’ve become accustomed to. To me, the book read like a stand-alone, so if this is your first foray into the Ali Reynolds world you won’t be confused.
