    Gamble on LOVE

Avid Reader but this is my first peak at Sabrina Jeffries novel. Loved the story and the characters. Lady Gwyn has a past that has come to threaten her. Major Joshua Wolfe is a wounded soldier with a temper but a fondness for Gwyn. Great adventure grace the pages. I would have really wanted more details in the life of Gwyn's mother Lydia. She seems weak to her children but is actually a very strong lady. "A copy of this book was provided by Kensington via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion." STAND ALONE read but look forward to picking up more in this Duke Dynasty Series.

    Great Characters!

The Bachelor by Sabrina Jeffries is book two in her Duke Dynasty series. Though part of a series, this novel reads well as a standalone. Lady Gwyn Drake is a 30-yr-old spinster being presented at the royal court in London. She thinks fast on her feet and can talk her way around and/or out of a bad situation, skills she needs to protect her secrets. A shady character from her past is putting Gwyn in danger, so her brother hires Joshua Wolfe to protect her. Joshua Wolfe is a major in the Royal Marines and the temporary gamekeeper at Armitage Hall, Gwyn’s current home. He’s grumpy and standoffish, but takes the job watching Gwyn out of a sense of duty, though he has secrets of his own to protect. The Bachelor has a sound premise and plot. It grabs and keeps the reader’s attention. The characterization is strong with believable and likable characters. Overall the dialogue is witty and smart with interesting internal character dialogue. This is a 5 out of 5 star read. There is some explicit sexual content, but if you’re not sensitive I still recommend this novel to readers of contemporary romance. My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

    suspenseful

The Bachelor, by Sabrina Jeffries, will be available at booksellers on 2-25-20. Bachelor is book 2 in Ms Jeffries Duke Dynasty series. I've read an excerpt of the story and am intrigued with beginning of the story. I'm interested in finding out how the story goes from the first chapter on. Will Lady Gwyn one-up her blackmailer? Will Major Wolfe stop being mysterious & kiss our heroine? Will Gwyn grow up & take responsibility for her actions? Can't wait to find out. I voluntarily read and reviewed this single chapter excerpt advance reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #Netgalley #SabrinaJeffries #TheBachelor #DukeDynasty #KensingtonBooks #Zebra #Romance

    Great Read

Oh! I LOVED this book. I loved Joshua and Gwyn in the first book and couldn’t wait to see their story. We learned of Joshua’s war injuries and how he’s still suffering and trying to come to grips with his limitations – and we also learned that there is more to Gwyn that one would believe. She has some deep secrets. Now, we get to learn what those secrets are in this wonderfully well-written, romantic, and well-plotted book. In case you missed the first book, Project Duchess, – well – you shouldn’t miss the first book because it was wonderful – but if you did… This series is about a Duchess who was married three times – each time to a duke – and she has five children from those – meaning that three of her sons are dukes. While each of her children, Fletcher (Grey), twins – Marlowe (Thorn) and Gwyn, Sheridan, and Heywood, will get their own story, there is an overarching mystery regarding the entire family. At this point, it appears that the mystery concerns the mother, but that could easily change through the course of the series. Joshua is the grandson of a duke, but his profligate father died leaving Joshua and his sister destitute. His grandfather paid for Joshua to have a commission in the Royal Marines – at the age of sixteen – which doesn’t speak too well of the grandfather (to me). Joshua loved the military and was very good at it – until he was horribly injured in a sea battle. Now, he works as a gamekeeper on the estate that had belonged to his grandfather. He’s grouchy, irascible, unhappy with his role in life, and inordinately attracted to Gwyn. Lady Gwyn Drake, twin sister to Thorn, the Duke of Thornstock, has secrets – secrets that could impact her entire family. Those secrets are back to haunt her -- she’s being blackmailed. She can’t tell Thorn about it because he’d just go out and kill the man, so she just has to find the money to pay. At thirty, she had hoped the past was behind her, but she’d always worried about it – and now it is here. When Joshua witnesses what he thinks is an attempt to kidnap Gwyn, he immediately rescues her, but the kidnapper gets away. What he actually witnessed was a meeting between Gwyn and her blackmailer. When Joshua tells Thorn about the ‘attempted kidnapping’, Thorn immediately hires Joshua to be Gwyn’s bodyguard during her upcoming debut season. Great, now how is she going to escape to pay her blackmailer? Gwyn is attracted to Joshua and Joshua is attracted to Gwyn, so can you imagine what being thrown together constantly in London is going to do to them? Yep! You are absolutely right and it is a fun ride. Two troubled people, each with trust issues, fall for each other, but their path is neither clear nor smooth. I loved watching them work their way toward their HEA – not exactly fighting the attraction, but reluctantly accepting it – and then – well, you’ll just have to read the book. I highly recommend this book. It is a great read with great characters you’ll quickly come to love. Now, I can hardly wait for the next book, Who Wants to Marry a Duke, which features Gwyn’s brother Thorn and Miss Olivia Norley who is a chemist. How cool is that? I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

    Wonderful

Secrets often cause one problems and they always seem to find their way to the ears of others. Especially youthful indiscretions caused by a blackguard! Lady Gwyn Drake is being blackmailed by Lionel Malet, the man that she wanted to forget. But he is determined to obtain funds from her to keep his mouth shut. When she meets with him to ask for more time, he manhandles her and luckily their estate groundskeeper, Major Joshua Wolfe comes to her rescue. Gwyn has long been attracted to him but she does not want him to know what was going on with Malet. Joshua is cousin to the current Duke and is doing his job until he can return to duty. He had been terribly wounded and still had problems with his leg but when Gwyn's brother the Duke of Thornstock requests he be her bodyguard while she is in London, he agrees. He wants answers though as to what is happening. I loved these two and they were a perfect match. He, the wounded soul striving to get back to his work to feel useful I think. She a little wounded at what happened when she was young and trying to trust which was hard. Intrigue, humor secrets and an explosive attraction that will only make you sigh. Don't miss this story or anything written by this author. She is amazing!
