4.5 star Review of The Bachelor (Chandler Brothers #1) by Carly Phillips I was so excited when I learnt that Carly Phillips was updating and re -publishing her Chandler Brothers series. There are three brothers, Chase, Rick and Roman and this book is Roman and Charlotte’s story. Returning home when their mother is rushed to hospital the brothers’ come up with a plan to make their mother Raina happy. After a toss of the coin, it is determined that Roman needs to find a woman and marry ASAP. Roman is a globe trotting foreign corespondent and Charlotte is the one who got away. This is a great second chance at love story that ticked boxes for me. Roman believes he can get married and still roam the globe, while the last thing Charlotte wants is a husband like her father who was away more than he was home. Returning home to Yorkshire Falls, Charlotte knows it is time to settle down and concentrate on her lingerie business. Their ideas for the future could not be more different and yet the attraction and chemistry that sizzles between Roman and Charlotte is too hard to ignore. Raina, the matriarch of the Chandler family was a hoot, she knows how to manipulate her sons (in a good way) and is determined to see them settle down and give her the grandchildren she desires. I have to say she had me laughing at times with her plans and manipulations. As I have come to expect from a Carly Phillips book, The Bachelor was well written and she soon had me hooked on the story she wove. It was a passionate, steamy, witty that I thoroughly enjoyed. I cannot wait to read the next brother’s story.

  • Great reread

This is one of my favorite all time books. I read this book first when it was picked for kelly Ripas book club and I got addicted to all of Carly Phillips books. I have read every book from her but this is still my favorite. Roman and Charlotte are a great coup,e you can’t help but root for. They both try to put family first and live their life to make them happy. Second chances are alway a good trope but this one I loved because it just seems so real. I loved getting to meet Raina and of course Rick and Chase and Love seeing their stories in the next books in this series. I love this series and have reread and listened to many times.

  • Sweet!

I hadn't read the books the first time around so I was glad to see these new releases and I fell in love with not just Roman and Charlotte but the whole Chandler clan. The story is sweet and flows well and the chemistry is there. It was a feel-good story perfect for decompressing after a stressful day.

  • Finally catching the girl he always wanted!

Roman Chandler is the youngest of the three infamous Chandler brothers. He has spent his adult life as a foreign news correspondent chasing stories all over the world. When he gets word that his mother has a heart issue, he flies back home to be by her side. Raina Chandler tells her sons, Chase, Rick and Roman, about her heart problems and then tells them that her life dream is to have a grandchild. When the boys flip a coin to see who will be the lucky son to give up their bachelorhood, get married, and then give Raina a grandchild, Roman is the unlucky one! Roman's perfect choice of a wife would be someone from Yorkshire Falls, NY, who wants to stay in town, marry a Chandler boy, and not mind if he is rarely home.....this should be easy! There is just one problem with this plan.....Charlotte Bronson, the girl who Roman always wanted, but never had. Charlotte has recently moved back to town and opened up a ladies boutique shop, aptly named Charlotte's Attic. The more time Roman spends with Charlotte, the harder he is falling and he may just realize that there could be a great benefit from not traveling as much! Now Roman needs to convince Charlotte that he is really committed to her and will not just be like her wayward dad. I really loved revisiting this book and the way that it was modernized. It was the first book of Carly Phillip's I ever read and from there I was hooked. I loved how Roman lost the coin flip, but in the end he really won out! I just adored Charlotte. She had such abandonment issues from her past that it was wonderful to see her deal with those. I also loved Raina. She was such a hoot. I couldn't imagine doing that to my kids, but it sure was entertaining!

  • A Must Read!!

I can see why Kelly Ripa had it on her “Ripa Bookclub” list! Even though written 20 years ago, it still vibrates with fabulous characters, an engaging story line, scorching love scenes and absolute “laugh out loud” by-play. Loved Roman and Charlotte’s second chance at Love! A Must Read!!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
