    Paying the Piper

I love this story - I first came across Brooks in a couple of The Young Royals books and it is a real pleasure to see that Ms Lee's world building crosses series. Brooks suddenly discovers he is a parent in a scene where he is so desperate for caffeine that he can't tell that there's no power! Once he gets past the shock of instant parenthood and all its attendant gaffs, he proves himself to be an excellent father and his growing relationship with Piper is an absolute delight. Piper is a real cutie who has had to swap one father for another but she weathers this well because of the maternal influence of Harper, her nanny; mind you the beta readers need to up their game - near the end of the story Piper is referred to as Harper! Hunter and Bailey from the previous book in this series are a wonderful almost-aunt and almost-uncle. This is definitely a book worth reading, especially if you enjoy booing the villain!
