LOVED this book!I cant even begin to tell you how much I LOVED this book! I read it on a whim one day looking for something new to read and saw this was free. I wasn't sure what to expect having never read a book from this author before. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The story is about Blythe a young women living in a scifi-futuristic- dystopian world who has a bionic eye and arm due to an unfortunate event. But she's not the only one with bionic body parts. She and her family known as the 'Bionics', all have some kind of bionic appendages that they use to fight against the government that had at one point help create them. Branding them as dangerous, the government wants to capture all the Bionics and destroy them. But Blythe along with her friends/family Dax, Gage, Yasmine, Sayer, Jenica, The Professor, etc. continue to fight agasint the opposing government/forces to save others like themselves and to earn their freedom/rightful place in this futuristic dystopian world. This book when i read it was was originally three separate novellas, with Blythe, Dax and Gage as narrators. Now the first three serials are combined and rewritten into one full novel!! Blythe narrates the first part. I love her as a character. She's such a strong, independent woman who is not afraid to fight for her bionic family and for what she believes in which is to have equality among the Bionics and humans. Her bionic eye is awesome as was her bionic arm. Makes me wish I had one! But she as strong as she is she also is very closed off emotionally and doesn't open up to people very well, mostly due to a traumatic event which I won't talk about you'll just have to read to find out. Also the relationship she has with Gage was interesting since Gage isn't like her at all and you'll find out why. And her relationship with Dax was interesting as well but for different reasons than Gage. Overall I thought Blythe was a great character one that I could relate to easily, and loved learning more about her back story in this newly written edition. In the second half of the book Dax becomes the narrator and I have to say I LOVED reading from Dax's POV. His character was written so well and so realistically. The way he narrated and spoke his mind and acted about certain situations was much like a typical normal guy. I loved how real he seemed. His relationship with Blythe was so sweet yet frustrating at times and you'll find out why and as for his relationship with Gage...well ...let's just say it's rocky. I loved whenever he and Gage interacted, it always made me laugh reading some of the things Dax had to say and the dialogue between the two of them. I look forward to reading more from Dax's POV in the next book. The final part of the novel is narrated by Gage, one of the newest recruits initiated into the Bionics team. When I first read about Gage I wasn't really sure what his deal was. I also didn't really care for him throughout Blythe's and Dax's parts. It wasn't until I read his POV and got to know him better did I realize just how interesting of a character he was. Gage is a very layered character who comes from a very interesting background one that I was surprised to find out about. He also has a few secrets that he hasn't shared with everyone, including Blythe. What are they you ask? Well you'll just have to read the book to find out! ;) Overall the book was fantastic! It does end on a cliffhanger but book 2 is already out so no problems there. I highly suggest picking it up to see what happens next! This book had me pulled in form the get go. I loved learning about the Bionics and how they came to be in the scifi-futuristic-dystopian world. The characters, Blythe Dax and Gage were all so well written, interesting and very memorable, I just can't get enough of them and wish I could live in their world. I've honestly re-read this book 4 or 5 times since I've bought it and just had to buy the paperback. I highly recommend this book to anybody especially to scif fans, dystopian fans and also to anybody who was a fan of the tv show Dark Angel(which I LOVED and this book kind of reminds me of it in a good way :)). I've already read the second book and am going to buy it in paperback as well. As i said highly recommend this book I couldn't put it down so go out and read it you won't regret it!!!! :Dby Max A. on March 20, 2015
