  • A superb book by KC Klein!

Jayne Keller had been adopted by Chandler Sloan’s family when she was a young girl. Chandler had found her and brought her home; he has always loved her. He was going to propose and she ran out on him years ago. Jayne had to back to her childhood home because the Sloan patriarch died, she must be there, and it’s the last place she wants to be. Chandler has never recovered from Jayne abandoning him; he is bitter, angry, and he hates her because he still loves her, or he would if his heart weren’t so hardened, so black. KC Klein is one of the most gifted writers around, and in THE BLACKHEARTED COWBOY, her magnificent writing style shines as never before. I marvel at the talent of Ms. Klein: Chandler is always angry, drinks far too much, he is unpleasant most of the time, very nasty to Jayne, and yet I could not hate him, I did not even dislike him. It was obvious there was a reason for his behaviour, and I could not wait to see how the story unfolded. THE BLACKHEARTED COWBOY is a fantastic story, gripping from beginning to end and with many plot twists. The characters are fascinating and extremely complex. It is not a light or easy read, but it is extremely satisfying because it is so well written, intelligent, and so, so compelling.

  • A truly emotional second chance romance.💞💖💞

This story about Chandler and Jayne just about broke my heart because it was just so heartbreaking. Chandler had saved Jayne from her awful home when they were just children and had felt like they were meant to be together right from the start. Jayne loved Chandler and wanted to spend her life with him. And she would have never left him... until something so traumatizing happened that she had to run. The only thing that could make her come back was the reading of Chandler's fathers' will. But Chandler has become a very bitter man and isn't going to make anything easy on Jayne because she hurt him so deeply. I have to honest and say there probably should've been a trigger warning for this story but it does warn you with "It is not a light or easy read." Having said that... I have to honest and say that I adored this one. I could not put this one down until I finished it and I shed more than my fair share of tears while reading it. But it was just so good and showed that family and love is what you make it.💗💕 This is book two of the In The Heart of Texas series and should be read in the order it's written.❣️ I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Interesting story

Chandler’s friend DJ is sent out to bring him in from his latest drinking binge. His father’s death is the reason this time. Chandler has no other friends and even his brother won’t help him. When he arrives home and finds his past love (Jayne) there he doesn’t know how to act so he is incredibly mean to her. The reader is finally let in on Jayne’s secret although it wasn’t really difficult to discern. These two characters are very well written and I was truly engrossed in learning the outcome. Overall a good read. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

  • Second Chance Love

Sloane and Jayne were engaged but she left without giving him a reason why. Nine years pass and his father dies and she back for the funeral and reading of the will. Sloane wants to know her reason for leaving but will she give up her secrets. I really enjoyed this book.

  • Didn't See the End Coming

I absolutely loved Blackhearted Cowboy...The depth and vividness given to Chandler is amazing. I was hoping for he and Jayne to work out their past throughout the story and actually "sighed" when they finally came together. If this book is the first the reader has read from this author, I'm positive that, like myself, once having read it, I could not wait to read more of her books.
