    A PNR Phenom

Since the first of the year, I have read well over 100 books. They ranged from short stories to over 800 pages. They covered the entire spectrum of the romance genre. They were written by debut indie authors and bestselling authors like J. R. Ward and Nora Roberts. Some were exceptional and will grace my library for decades. Some I have already forgotten. I can say with no hesitation and no qualms whatsoever that The Bloodline War is the BEST book I have read this year to date. It was soooo hard to keep this review under wraps until the post date because I wanted to grab people, and tweet people and say READ this book!! Read it now, now, NOW!! I was literally doing a happy dance through most of the story. Yes, it is about a secret race of vampires. No you have read NOTHING like this. It was smart. It made sense and it made me laugh. I mean it made me cackle like a hyena in heat. It was uber sexy, but I wouldn't classify it as an erotic romance. It was more the sexual tension and the chemistry between Jacken and Toni. There were some graphic scenes, but they meshed with the gritty tone of the book. Anything milder would have seemed fake and not fit at all. This story does have main characters, Jacken and Toni, but it has so much more. It has an entire cast of humans and Varcolac that play just as an important part as the H/h. The world building is exceptional, and there are bad guys coming from every direction. There are so many surprises in this book, it's like Christmas morning. There are discoveries being made right and left, and best of all..... There is a female revolt!! I don't do spoilers, but these mates don't settle for a pat on the head and a "Honey, I'm home from battle" schtupp. These human women have their vamps by the short curlies and they're not afraid to give a painful yank. I loved it! I couldn't give this book a simple rating. I had to give it infinite gold stars. It was just that wonderful. Tracy Tappan, I thank you for the honor of reading your book.

    Unique paranormal romance

(I received this book for free as part of Goodreads First Reads giveaways). (This review may contain spoilers). Having read the first book in this series, I was pretty happy I already had the second book... and I had a much better feeling while I was reading this book. I liked the women, but there were times I got a bit confused with them. The ones who weren't the main characters seemed almost grouped together into one entity and there were a few who weren't actually named. It was nice to see other characters as well in this book. I really liked Alex's relationship and I liked the fact that he was a fairly interesting character and it was nice to see that the author spent quite a bit of time on his subplot. I really find it unique that the vampire-race can't actually get physical with anyone until after they're bound. It's an interesting and unique take on it and I felt it kept the relationships real, with just enough sexual tension to indicate that, yes, these two characters are strongly attracted to each other. I would like to know how the Dragons are formed. If it's a genetic thing, I would have thought that at least some of the Dragons would be physically related to each other. I really didn't like the police officer in this book. I didn't like him in the previous one, either, but he was particularly annoying in this one. There were a couple of the bad guys that I found fairly intriguing, even though I really dislike them. Not their leader, though - he's a complete jerk and I really dislike him. I can't feel any sympathy towards him... or really understand the reasons behind what he's trying to do. There were a few emotional scenes in this book and some things that really made me angry. I ran a gauntlet of emotions through this book and that's a sign of a book that really draws me in and keeps me hooked all through reading it. I definitely intend to read book three at some point in the future. I also have a short story that's set in the world as well. If you'd like a more unique take on the vampire paranormal romances... this series is it.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! (Especially Jacken!)

I LOVED THIS BOOK! (And boy, can Tracy write a hero!) The story was so full of twists even from the very first chapter. I thought I knew the direction it was going, (because I have read my fair share of vampire novels), but I was completely wrong. That's what was so refreshing about this book. Also, the mythology surrounding the vampires is unlike any that I have read before, which was also refreshing. I also like how not just the main characters were featured in the story. I learned about the lives of other minor characters who, hopefully, will get their own books in the series! Each male was SO alpha, and yet so devoted to his woman, family and duty. I also want to know what happens not only with the war itself, but with the singles who are still single at the end of the book! Jacken is one of my all-time favorite heroes. He is so dark and tortured, and yet it's clear that he has so much good in him that just needs a way to come to the surface. I would absolutely keep reading this series. Tracy is a very talented writer; not only is the book well-written in a technical sense, but she had me almost chomping at the bit to see what happened next! I found myself limiting the number of pages I read to make the book last longer, but before I knew it, I was done! I am eagerly awaiting the next installment, and I am now a HUGE Tracy-fan!!! ***A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review***
