    Great first in series!

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this book! I could not put this book down! Strong vivid characters, romance, well written plot, twists, and an ending that I was not expecting! I did not guess whodunit correctly!! I highly recommend this book! 5 stars!! I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

    Book Themed Murders

The Book Club Murder is the first book by Leslie Nagel that I have read, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a wonderful story that was cozy mystery mixed with romantic suspense. This is the first book in a new series The Oakwood Mystery series. This is a standalone with no cliffhanger, though it is open-ended for future books in the series. There is described violence, this is a murder mystery after all. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. The author did a great job of explaining and describing the characters and the town. I loved the idea of the theme staged murder scenes and the aptly named book club. There are a lot of clues in the storyline that keep you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed next. And they continue to keep coming until the end of the book. It definitely kept me riveted. I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. I look forward to reading more of Leslie Nagel's books. I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    Romantic and Funny!

Be careful what you wish for! Det. Marcus Trenault had wanted more action from this quiet town and he got it. Murder! And not just one, a slew of them! Somehow they connected to the Agathas local book club. Now, he's not only looking into the murders, he's also got to stop Charley (a book club member) from harm as she tries to solve the murders. He's finding it hard to stop the stubborn woman and his interest in her! An interesting entry into the series. Action-filled, though slow at times. Romantic and funny. 3 1/2 stars Book free for honest review.

    cozy who done it

Charley Carpenter loves reading books and solving mysteries with her BFF Frankie Bright. Charley joined Frankie’s book club – The Agathas – in order to hang out with the rich and famous in Oakwood to build her business, Old Hat Vintage Fashions. If you’ve read some of the book club’s selected mysteries you just might recognize some of the scenes being reenacted. Agatha Christies’ The ABC Murders and her And Then There Were None. Or Sarah Graves’ Mallets Afterthought; Rita Mae Browns’ Murder She Meowed; Rattlesnake Crossing by J A Jance; Strangers in Death by J D Robb. If Charley can get past her old bitter confrontations with Marc they just might have a future together. I received a copy of this book through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

    Entertaining mystery, enjoyable romance

I did not want to put this book down. Between the whodunit and the romance between Charley and Marcus, I had to turn the page. Charley wanted to help the police after the first murder because she knew the people involved. Her past with Marcus, the lead cop, almost kept her from passing on information. I cheered for both Charley and Marcus as they realized the past was just that and that they were attracted to each other. The mystery was compelling with several suspects to choose from, and I found the "theme" behind the murders intriguing. I highly recommend this book. I received a copy of this story through Netgalley.
