    Predictable

Was pretty captivated until the end of the book. Then it just sort of finished predictably and awkwardly. Almost as if the writer just wanted to finish it already.

Well-built world where shadows flee & memory fails

I've read a lot of post-apocalypse books and this was one of the most intriguing. It's a really interesting exploration of memory and what it means to society. In the real world, memory (& history) are not simple and factual as we like to pretend; this takes the malleability of memory to the extreme. I didn't find it predictable as I've seen some others say, but I didn't really spend time thinking about what was going to happen since I was riveted by what was happening as I read. It is a sad and bittersweet tale at times, but very well-written, I thought. One of my favorite books. I think it will be more interesting to those with more life experience and who have more awareness of memory issues; a teen or 20-something may not enjoy it as much as an older adult will.

    Book of memories!

This is one of those rare page turners that makes you think: deeply about philosophical concepts such as self, memory, truth and love. Beautiful portrayal of life across different culture and geographies
