  • What a great story!

This is another fantastic M/M story from Lauren Blakely. While I have a lot of Lauren Blakely books in my digital library, I’ve only recently started reading her books. I read mostly M/M romance and when she started writing them, I was excited to give them a try. I have NOT been disappointed! In fact, I’ve enjoyed them so much that I purchased the audiobooks of several of them, including The Boyfriend Comeback. The audiobook of The Boyfriend Comeback actually was released before the ebook so I listened to it instead of reading my ARC of the book. Teddy Hamilton and J.F. Harding knocked this out of the park. Oops, maybe I should have said scored a touchdown since this is a football romance. 😊 These two could probably read the phonebook and it would sound good but Lauren Blakely’s writing is what made this a great listen for me. I am not a sports fan but I seem to really enjoy reading sports related romance books and this one was really great. The fact that this story also included a forbidden aspect (the two MCs play for rival teams) and a second chance trope meant that it hit a lot of buttons for me. Jason and Beck meet at a photo shoot for the Furry Friends Weekend charity event. At the media briefing afterward Jason is very comfortable with the press while Beck is not. Beck asks Jason for help so that he can do better in front of the press. This leads to them getting together and eventually hooking up. But later Beck fails to show up for a prearranged date, leaving Jason frustrated and angry so he blocks Beck on his phone. A year later they are playing for rival teams. Jason and Beck go through a few ups and downs; they must keep their relationship a secret from their teammates and friends because they just know that everyone would be upset if their relationship became public. This story grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go until I finished it in one listening session. I loved that there were deleted scenes included in the audiobook as well as a sample of the next book coming in this series. I was so happy to learn that the next book in this series, Limited Edition Husband, will be a duet narration with James Joseph and Teddy Hamilton; I can hardly wait to listen to it! A copy of this book was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions dot com***

  • Another Winner!

I don't know how she does it, but I am very appreciative that she does - LB has cornered the winning formula not just on romance novels, but definitely in the MM genre. She understands what a hero wants and needs, then she doubles it up and scores a touchdown! Each and every one of her MM books or series have been fabulous and now we can add Beck and Jason to that list. I personally can not choose which couple I love more! This story is about meeting your crush, and the joy of your expectations have been met beyond what you thought initially. What I love most about a LB love story is the authenticity of the tale. She never adds any unnecessary drama which annoys me completely. Of course there is a dilemma but it's one that makes sense to the characters and has meaning to their life. In this case it is a forbidden romance as they are both QB for rival teams, so their relationship is kept a secret and as both men are out and proud, this is not an easy decision to make. They want to keep their jobs and have the respect of their peers and fans. They also deal with anxiety that for one of our heroes can be quite crippling if not managed well. I love this vulnerability in a character, male or female, and then how their partner helps them through these situations is so moving and special. I totally adore both of these guys! I am likewise super excited to read the next book in line - Nate finds love again with Hunter and .... well I suppose we will all have to wait and see what happens, but I know it's going to be good!

  • Absolutely Loved This Couple

Lauren Blakely just absolutely melted my romance book lovin’ heart with Jason and Beck. I fell hopelessly, utterly, and completely head over heels in love with their story. Sometimes fate and life simply align. And they most certainly did for Jason and Beck. Quarterbacks for rival football teams. But something just clicked with them. Jason was the older/veteran of the pair while Beck was the rookie. Beck had crushed hard on Jason before the meeting and on the field rivalry. But one stolen moment and kiss ignited them both. But life happened. Feelings of betrayal and anger. A moment of loss and past pain infiltrated the next day. Life moved on but neither forgot that “feeling” they experienced. Then the two were faced with working even more closely together, sharing space and time off the field. When they finally set the record straight, it’s apparent there’s still some heat. And it refuses to fade. Stolen moments, secret meets, so many secrets, and nights filled with physical attraction and emotional connections. Both know this should end but neither can let go. Beck confessed his inner turmoils and allows Jason to guide him through this relationship. And Beck gives Jason the empowerment of protectiveness he needs. But will they be able to come out on top or lose it all if discovered? Blakely never fails to absolutely grab my soul and make me fall in love with her couples. These two had heat and innocence. They allowed me to watch as they discovered what love is all about. 5 shining 🌟.

  • Entertaining

5 star Review of The Boyfriend Comeback (The Boyfriend Zone #1) by Lauren Blakely Another great story from Lauren Blakely; she really has a talent for MM stories and I fell hard and fast for both Jason McKay and Beck Cafferty. This was an entertaining and witty, not to mention smoking hot story that ticked all the boxes for me. The Boyfriend Comeback is a story with characters you cannot help but fall for and whose story I was quickly invested in. I feel like I have been waiting for Jason’s story for so long and it was everything I was hoping that it would be and more. I loved him in previous books and The Boyfriend Comeback just had me falling for him even more. Thanks to miss understandings and miss communication Jason and Beck have a lot to deal with if they are to have a successful future together. There were moments where I laughed so much with the banter between them and their friends and yet there were moments where I feared that they would never come to terms with the past.  Individually these characters were awesome but together they took the book to another level. The secondary characters were engaging and it was great to see a number of familiar faces make appearances throughout the story.

  • Are you ready for some HOT Football Guys!!

This story has it all, Hot Athletes, forbidden love, rivals to lovers, I mean what more could you possibly need? How about another fabulous story by Lauren Blakely. In this story we get to meet Beck Cafferty, who is a newbie to the NFL and has just been traded to a new team, which means he’s now in the same town as his hot hookup from a year ago, none other than Jason McKay. I’m so happy that Jason is finally getting his own story. We’ve seen him be a supportive friend and brother to Nolan when he was going through his love troubles. These two were totally made for each other. Beck is very cautious and suffers from anxiety and Jason seems to be able to read him so well and knows how to help him when he is struggling. The way that these two kept getting thrown together was just what they needed to overcome their past and move forward into a relationship. And boy, once they let loose on their attraction, watch out cause it is sure to singe you it is so hot! You are sure to love the chemistry and the banter between these two lovers. Hats off to Lauren on another winning story!
