    new beginnings and old friends

The calendar of new beginnings is the story of going home again, and finding yourself even when not expecting it. Lucy, a renowned photojournalist, is back in Dare Valley, after an injury while in the Congo. Lucy is protecting her family, friends, and herself in many ways, herself, from having to discuss why she's home. Her struggle to find her place with her family felt very real as coming home again when away from so long can be challenging, even when surrounded by those who love you but may not "know" you in the same way anymore. It's also the story of turning the page for Andy, as he works through how to move on after the death of his wife and whether he has the capacity to love again. It was a sweet best friends to romance story. It was wonderfully poignant, honest, and funny. I really enjoyed reading as Lucy and Andy let their guards down, and let those around them, including each other, "back in" their lives and in their hearts. I enjoyed watching Lucy's friendship with Moira develop, as well as how Tanner approached her letting her know that he understood how how trauma can impact everyone. Lucy's relationship with her mother was not perfect, but an important facet to the story too, as well as how Lucy copes with her injury. Arthur's presence is always a treat, and having Evan and Chase show up was great too. As always, Ava's book takes you on a journey and in this one, how brave it can be to turn the page, accept the past, and be able to stay in the present and believe in the future. **I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.

    The Calendar of New Beginnings

Thanks Ava. Arthur is going soon and it will be sad to see him go. What a wonderful old man he is! I admire Lucy's need to be herself and hope she continues to do so as I guess we'll meet her in other books. Andy is thoughtful and insightful and I hope that even tho Lucy's new 'labels' are 'mother' and 'wife' that he allows himself to continue to look and think of her as her own person.

    Beautiful Friendship to Blossoming Love

This was a beautiful story of how to find love again after life-altering heartache. Lucy and Andy have been best friends since kindergarten. Even with all of her dangerous world travels through war torn countries, they have been there and supported one another through everything. Even the death of his wife Kim. But now Lucy is back home and he knows something is wrong. Explaining how her injuries will possibly forever change her life, Lucy has a hard time coming to terms with what she's supposed to do. But Andy is there for her just as he's always been. And when the attire they have felt off and on throughout their friendship becomes known, they take the chance on love. New and scary to say the least, Lucy finds a love in him that she has never felt before and Andy has leaned to open his heart again. But will Lucy rip it apart once her travels take her away again? Can they come to terms with all that has changed and learn to love through it all or will fears ruin their love and their friendship? This was such a beautiful story and one I highly recommend!!!

    Great read!

I certainly enjoyed this story. It was wonderful to continue hearing about the friends I made reading the other books. The new characters were very human in their problems and trials. The story line kept me interested and was not predictive. The major conflicts in the story were real to me and I liked that there was some doubt as to the resolution of the conflict. It was a story I did not want to leave. Like all the books I've read by Ava Miles this one has me looking forward to the next!
