  • This case is a little bit different!

With JD on another “staying sober” experiment and being far more responsible at work, Jenny finds herself relegated to the small stuff again. A case that she easily saw herself taking charge of, was quickly swooped away. But, when another somewhat related case comes in just after JD has left town, she’s determined to take care of things and goes off after her father. The story starts with a horrendous fire, many deaths, and then veers off in the search for the beneficiary of one of the victims of the fire. When that beneficiary seems to be found in the same town where JD has headed on another matter, Jenny knows it’s meant to be. Sessums has pulled many threads into this particular weave and the Case of the Texas Ranger is more far reaching than it would have looked at first. Pages fly by until the rather surprising – to this reader – conclusion. Caveat – this one ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. Nothing to do with the case itself, it could be just a taste of the case that’s to come. [Many thanks to the author for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of the book, I was not required to leave a review, the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.]

  • Strange Goings On In The Texas Panhandle

This is the third book of a series. While each book stands alone quite well, the reader will enjoy them so much more when read in order. This book takes place in 1937 Texas, please read the prologue as it contains explanations that the reader should know. In this episode, Jenny and her father take on some insurance cases out in the panhandle. Things are not as they seem and it gets very interesting quite quickly. There are some good twists and turns. This is more of a brozy than a cozy. Which is to say, it is a good mystery with lots of action and it is clean. It is not about hobbies, food or fashion. I have really enjoyed this series, partially because I love the pre-WWII era of crime and PI's. I can't wait for the next episode. I am also going to check out this author's other work. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.
