  • So many twists and turns!

Audiobook: Narrator - Jenny Beesley This narrator was perfect for the story. Not sure how old she is, but she fit perfectly for the 17 year old heroine. Her accents were wonderful. I’m no expert so I don’t know if they were correct, just that I enjoyed them! And there were even some sound effects that surprised and delighted me. Wow! This was an amazing story!!! I knew going in it was Young Adult and I’m not really a fan, but holy heck...everything else about this story was incredible! It’s obvious this author has a wealth of knowledge of all things Ireland, ancient folklore and mythology. This is rich with layers as the story slowly unfolds to reveal so many twists and turns, I had to keep listening long past the point where I usually turn it off. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but if you enjoy books with some paranormal activity and lots of action, this is definitely for you!!! *This does end on a bit of a cliffhanger with some things left unresolved.

  • A Magical Story

Be transported into the land of Ireland, where mythical creatures exist in other worlds. Ashling, had come to Ireland with her mother, father and siblings which was described in the first book of this series. She has experienced so much and with Aengus Breasal's help, has discovered this other world and learns to develop her own powers along with her sister Deidre. I loved the interaction between Ashling, her sister and twin brothers and it pulled them all together. When her father and mother go missing, she is determined find them and really needs some help. Her relationship with Aengus is lovely to watch as the beginnings of first love stir. But Aengus' adversary Lorcan makes her feel things too. Wonderfully written, it kept my attention as I turned that pages and with the paranormal mythology, I was hooked. You will really enjoy this tale and long for the next book in this series.

  • A woven tapestry of magic

Everything in Ireland screamed “home”. Even the guy whose soul recognized Ashling’s the moment he laid eyes on her. When dark forces are at work, will Ashling be able to awaken her inner power in time? Will she be able to reach the heart of the person whose destiny is closely intertwined with hers? I could not put this book down. I loved the characters, the setting, the lore. The author weaves magic as she writes details and descriptions into the book. From page one, I was captivated and drawn into the story, and I quickly found myself rooting for the hero and heroine to get together. There was amazing sexual tension between Aengus and Ashling, written so well in a slow-burn romance. I definitely recommend this book, and I look forward to reading the next in the series!

  • A must-read!

Reviewed by Liz Konkel for Readers' Favorite The Cauldron Stirred (Guardians of Erin Book 1) by Judith Sterling is the first book in a new series. All that Ashling has ever wanted was to make a positive impact on the world but nothing she ever did felt good enough. Given the opportunity of a lifetime, she has a chance to do something great but couldn't have predicted the mystery that would unfold. Her family is invited to stay at the Killarney estate where she discovers an immediate connection with the handsome Aengus. And for the first time, the guy she is attracted to seems to like her back. But Aengus has secrets that draw her into a magical reality that brings the two families together to stop a dangerous evil that emerges. The lovely Irish setting brings to life the magic, mythology, and romance in the story. The castle has a ghostly presence that adds mystery and serves as a catalyst into other dimensions. The setting gives an eerie and beautiful backdrop giving a foreboding sense of danger for the characters and for Ashling who feels like everything good drains away at night. Ashling and her sister Deirdre are opposites of each other as Ashling has yet to make a romantic connection and Deirdre has three boys vying for her attention. Their dynamic provides a fun element to their relationship and creates some comic relief. Ashling is an earnest character who is a genuine do-gooder that wants to do something positive for the world. Judith Sterling uses Ashling's dreams throughout the story to provide foreshadowing to significant events such as meeting a handsome Adonis and a dark mass that gives a hint of the danger to unfold. The dialogue is fantastic with descriptive details and attitudes that give a little extra spark to the tone of the story and the personality of the characters, such as Deirdre describing the castle as a corpse at night. Delightfully Irish, The Cauldron Stirred delivers a rich and original take on Irish mythology through a coming-of-age journey that has romance, destiny, and family that makes you want to see where this series will go.
