A great start to the series

I really enjoyed this book. I can't remember the last time I read a thriller in less than a day. Well, this is more like an action/crime thriller than a spy thriller. John Milton is a government assassin who is undergoing an attack of conscience and wants out. He decides to help out a woman who is worried she is losing her son to street gangs. But things are not so easy to resolve as you can imagine. This story is set in a backdrop of Hackney council estate and the London riots a few years ago. I loved the detailed description of the setting. It was basically part of the character of the story and brought the story alive. Teh story came alive to me as I could picture the characters easily in my head. All the characters are engaging and played a role in moving this story forward; John, Elijah, Rutherford, Pops, Pinky, Bizness. Actually the only character I had a huge dislike for was Agent 12. The story is wrapped up reasonably well. But I wish I knew what happened to Elijah in the end as he's not included in the epilogue. A great start to the series though. 4.5 stars

    Perfect

Anyone out there that likes or loves Lee Childs writing ,will, i believe love Mark Dawson. John Milton reminds me of Jack Reacher. Enjoy people, because i sure did. Have been reading all his books and can't put them down!

    Great book

A wonderful, keep you on the edge of your seat kind of book. Intriguing but the character shows kindness, even though he is a hired killer I truly appreciate getting this book for free. I wouldn't have known otherwise how great it is. Mark Dawson is an amazing author

    The Cleaner

Rooting for the "bad guy" has never been my favorite read. But John Milton's character made me want to root for him! ju The ending left me wanting to read more.

    The Cleaner

First rate thriller. I found myself sneaking every opportunity I could to read more. Usually I stretch a book over a week or two but this one was done by day 3. Good character development, intensely descriptive settings.
