    A Novel equivalent of the Curate's egg.

    A good story by an excellent author. The setting in the early 1900's makes it interesting right through but some of the "action" is over the top. Yet again, many passages are so exciting as to get the reader's heart racing. A 3*5 rating is probably more realistic.

    The Cold North Sea

    Interesting period piece - 1904 England - with good descriptive geographical detail and plot ideas, dealing with Britain, Russia, etc. geopolitics. Unfortunately, writing becomes more and more cliches and coincidences more and more improbable. Just before the "70% point", I gave up and couldn't finish...
