    more than a vampire book

I really loved this plot. It some how was more than a vampire book with its love, lust, and of course, death and blood, it was a tad about friendships, family, and wondering if a monstrous things changes someone or if a monster is just deep in the shadows all along.

    Couldn't put it down

This is definitely not a sparkly vampire book where the vampires are good people and don't kill and yada yada yada. This is a bloody, gritty book that does nothing to romanticize the vampires. It makes them cold and callous with a touch of humanity. By the time you reach the end you're wanting to read more and wishing for a sequel. The heroine of the story isn't some perfect goody two shoes either. She doesn't like killing but also won't hesitate to kill. She spends most of her time ruining her clothes with blood (both hers and the blood of others). Buy despite all that, and maybe even BECAUSE of all that, this book is an incredible read from start to finish. It makes you want to keep reading and quit reading all at the same time. I highly recommend this one

Another amazing book by Holly Black

This is the second book by Holly Black that I've read. My good friend turned me onto this author, and she knows me so well. We read The Darkest Part of the Forest right when it came out, and months later, when I needed a break from a lot of less pleasant reading and needed something that guaranteed fun (Holly Black), my clever friend recommended I start here. I'm relieved I followed her advice. When I've read one or two books by an author (and in general, those books are completely characteristic of their strengths/wheelhouse), I'm confident I've found an author I can count on to love at least 75% of the time. I can count those authors on one hand, and Holly Black is the most recent one. What I love most about this book is probably the main character, Tana. She just gets stuff done. I really like the way Holly Black set up the vampire story and formation. I hate to admit that my mind went straight to Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, since I think it's one of the more famous vampire stories. This is no Twilight, but I suspect people who liked Twilight might like this book. The writing style is creative and colorful without being overwhelming or too full of details. To say more of what I love about this book would be to include spoilers, which seems to not be allowed here. But GR has a bunch of reviews, including mine, so there you go. Great!

I enjoyed this book. I could hardly put it down. The characters were good and there was at least one twist I didn't expect.

    Great

This book is very well written. I was drawn to it because of the title, as a cold person myself, I found the title intriguing. However, the story line was amazing.
