    Great Addition to Series

This is the eleventh book in The Color of Heaven series. While this book is part of series, you can easily read it as a standalone. Though I highly recommend you read the series because Julianne MacLean does such a good job of creating rich characters with thought provoking storylines. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. For those of us who read the previous book, The Color of Forever, we met Jack Peterson already. The Color of a Promise gives a lot more detail into why Jack didn't get along with his brother Aaron. A plane crash, right in his parents yard brings Meg Andrews into Jack's life. Jack and Meg are drawn to each other. Will they find love with each other or will they continue to be "married" to their jobs? Will Jack ever forgive Aaron so they can have a new start at being brothers? This book is a great addition to the series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    Another great read

I am completely obsessed with this series. Only MacLean could write a series so full of "magic" without being super cheesy. I adored Jack in the previous book and love him even more now. His journey to let go of his past (all of his pasts) and move on was really difficult. It was very interesting to see Jack and Aaron's rivalry in this life and how that made things even more tense between them. Then there's Meg. Is she or isn't she? It's sort of up to the reader to decide what they believe. I really wish that was discussed more, but I realize that it was part of Jack learning to take people and things at face value. Meg's discovery of what is really important very much parallels Jacks. I laughed and I shed some tears, and many goosebumps were had. This was a really wonderful read and I can't wait to see what's in store for the series. *I received an ARC in exchange for an HONEST review.

Her characters are well developed and the plot flows smoothly! This book is emotional and dramatic! It makes you realize that everything can be gone in an instant and we should enjoy life! After reading this book I am reminded of how precious life is and how we all need to find and take time for the joys in our lives! The entire series is emotional and tugs at your heart strings! Reading Julianne MacLean is one of the things that make life enjoyable! I encourage everyone to read this book! I received an ARC for an honest review of this book!

Touches the heart and sparks hope.

I am a little disappointed in myself. How could I not have known Ms. Maclean wrote contemporary romance. Having read a number of her short stories and full length historical romances, I have been aware of her as an author for quite a while. Her historicals are full of the fantasy fairytale settings that are loved by most women and the warrior hero ready to lend a hand to the damsel in distress but after reading The Color of a Promise, her gift for writing inspirational and dramatic stories is an extraordinary find. The Color of A Promise mixes drama, cinema and motivational writing into a fascinating read that touches the heart, gives food for thought and sparks hope. Jack and Meg found a place of protection during a time of tragedy and that is all a person can hope for in life. I received an ARC of this wonderful novel in exchange for an honest review. I am going to have to look into the rest of this series.

The promise of a good book

It has always amazed me how easy it is to make a promise and then innocently forget about making it. But, when a promise is made and kept, regardless of what has transpired or what the consequences are then you know that this is a person worth knowing and someone you can trust. In this story we have two main characters, Jack and Meg, who meet up and they very soon find that they are bonding and that there is something else behind their friendship that is tying them together in a most inexplicable way. The more they see of each other the tighter the bond. And I loved that long ago promises are soon promises kept. This book should be read by all, the open minded, the closed minded and the doubting Thomases. In fact, everyone! It is very well written and is a quick and easy read. In fact I couldn't put it down until I finished it. An ARC copy of this book was provided by the author at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review.
