  • The Coming Plague

Laurie Garrett, Science Journalist, provides us with a history of catastrophic epidemic event in human history. She introduces us to the new global realities, the new emerging global threat of infectious disease. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.

  • highly recommended reading!!

MS Garrett has approached a very timely subject. The book is a window into the mechanics of plagues, disease and those who chase those down. Epidemiology is a complex science and this book is an excellent discourse on how viruses live, propagate and protect themselves. Covid-19 was inevitable and as with other epidemics such as HIV/AIDS, Ebola, SARS, MERS etc science has yet to find the definitive source. The book discusses this and gives perspective to the determination of that. I highly recommend this book. What might be disappointing is the next plague isn't named, just the opportunities for it to happen. The rest is left to the imagination!
