    Gory Romp

This book is absolute gory MADNESS. As in, it's just what I expected from a Chuck Wendig adventure, and yet nothing like what I anticipated. For example, I did not expect the level of gore and grossness this little book could contain. Turns out, it can fit in a lot. A LOT. Still, I had so much fun reading it that I couldn't help but smirk when some of the many, many villains met particularly gruesome fates. The story is fairly straight forward, but has tons of twists near the end and leaves almost nothing unanswered, provided you can suspend your disbelief. The characters have various traits and arcs that make them easy to relate to, and I wished to spend more time with a few of them. The main cast, including Coburn and Kayla, had great chemistry. Their interactions were among my favourite moments. There is a wide variety of villains in this story, adding to explosive actions scenes and great tension. Not to mention the plentiful sucker punches. I read this story around Halloween, and while it's not truly terrifying, it is definitely a wild ride that anyone who enjoys bloody adventures with monsters will enjoy.
