  • Emotional journey!

The Crush is an emotional journey of love, friendships and life! I found it a bit sad most of the time and just felt like something was missing to be quite honest. This was a brothers best friend romance with some heartfelt moments between the characters and their struggles after certain difficult moments in their lives. When Jace returns home and lives with her and her brother, Farrah isnt quite sure how to keep her feelings to herself. Yes, some years had passed without word, but living in close proximity could be a recipe for disaster? How do these two cope? There is drama, secrets, some heart wrenching moments and distrust. Will these friendships stand the test? A good story!

  • Sweet and Emotional Little Romance

A sweet and emotional little romance. Farrah has had a crush on her brother's best friend Nathan since she was itty bitty. Now she's 21 and all grown up...this crush has developed into a bit of an obsession for her when Jace moves in with them. The story has a very slow build with a strong reluctance from Jace to cross the line with Farrah. This book is full of complicated secrets, guilt and a whole lot of angst just waiting to explode. A quick romantic read that was entertaining, funny and sometimes a little maddening.

  • A rollercoaster ride of emotions!

Penelope certainly takes readers on a tumultuous journey with Farrah and Jace. The older brother's best friend trope is usually a pretty angst filled story and this one is no exception. Jace and Farrah have known each other for most of their lives, and Farrah has been in love with Jace since she was a young girl. Jace knew she had a crush on him when they were younger, but he just thought it was cute. He had no clue that once Farrah was grown up, his feelings for her would change in such a dramatic way. Penelope really knows how to do unrequited love. Poor Farrah! And Jace was definitely the brooding older man who really had no clue how to handle his emotions. Not only are these two trying to navigate forbidden territory, they both are still dealing with the tragedy of Farrah and her brother Nathan losing their parents years ago. Jace was there when it happened, and his survivor's guilt is huge. Get ready to experience a rollercoaster ride of emotions with this book! I was dying to see if Farrah and Jace would ever be able to figure out a way to be together. Can they both heal from their pasts? Can they overcome all the obstacles keeping them apart? Read the book and find out!

Ms Ward... what have I not said before. Your writing hits all the emotional feels and then some. Farrah and Jace are two soul searching characters that I have ever read and LOVED! What a great pairing and great story to sit down and read in ONE DAY!

  • Angsty, romantic and sweet

Penelope Ward did it again. She wrote a beautiful story that will melt your heart. I couldn't put it down. I am not going to lie and pretend that I wasn't attracted by the cover- fanning myself... The cover, yeah the cover was drawing me in- How can one resist?! I have to warn you though, when you start reading The Crush and meet Jace - your heart will start beating faster and you will picture him exactly as the model on the cover- He is sex on a stick. It only gets better as you turn the pages and you will be hooked. Jace has been best friend with Nathan from a very young age. When he comes back to help his dad , he decides to move in with His friend Nathan... and his little sister Farrah. Farrah had a crush on Jace for how long as she can remember ... but nothing prepared Jace for the 21 years old Farrah . Jace is every girl’s dream! As the story progresses, the sexual tension between them reaches a peak. You could feel the connection between them. Can Jace explore what he is feeling for Farrah without compromising his friendship with his best friend? Is Farrah ready to cross the invisible line between her crush and the reality? The Crush was angsty, sweet and sexy at the same time. I love the banter between them, their connection and more importantly how they get each other. 4.5 stars
