    Addicting

One of my favourite reads this summer. It was hard to put down and I just needed to find out what would happen next. I definitely try to reccomend this book to as many people as I can.

    My first Holly Black book.

This is my first Holly Black book. My friend recommended her after reading a bunch of her other work (notably the Curse Worker Series, which I'll start soon), so we decided to read this one. I really liked this book. The characters and narration style (third person) were vibrant and cohesive. I really liked the characters, especially Jack. I highlighted a lot of his lines. The dialogue was pretty good too, and I did like Hazel Evans as the main character. The story is suspenseful, intricate, and fun. And the writing style is absolutely lovely. So much tone and creativity. There are two things I didn't like quite so much about this book. The first is the over-reliance on "terrible and beautiful", mostly the "and beautiful" that was used to describe everything connected to the fairies. I get that it was to describe the fairies as terrifying as well as beautiful, that magical dual nature, but after awhile it seemed a little excessive. There was one aspect of the ending that I didn't like but that would be a spoiler. Highly recommended.

    Quick paced enjoyable read

An easy book to get into. Full of adventure with a little bit of love thrown in. Details were wonderfully vivid.

    The fey

I have always been a fierce and devoted fan of Holly Black's. This book reassures my love of Black's writing. It is because of books like this, that I am obsessed with the idea of the fey

    Modern Fairytale

I really loved this story. For me it has everything I look for in a good story, interesting characters with compelling relationships with one another, and a fast paced plot. The only thing I didn't like was that it was a standalone title. I hope Holly Black decides to revisit these characters at some point.
