    Captivating story, top-notch writing

The first few pages sucked me in, and the remainder of the book kept me hooked, kept me guessing, and never let me down. Rader-Day's style is crisp and clean, evocative without calling attention to itself. The characters are fallible and heroic in very human ways. The culmination of both the mystery and the protagonist's arc were deeply satisfying. This book was the first I read by this author, but not the last--I'm now going to read everything I can get my hands on by this incredibly talented writer.

    Disjointed writing

It is rare for me to not finish a book. I have read some really bad writing just to see how the story is resolved. I picked this novel up because of the sale price and was dismayed at the poor writing. The writing style is difficult to follow and is filled with dialog that does not progress and the story. The author teases the reader with random sentences meant to hint at the title of the work. It was the only thing keeping me engaged in the story. I finally gave up when the writing just became too tedious to follow. Zero stars from me.

    Just OK

Difficult to follow her actions. The relationships and characters were all over the place from one dimensional to quite complex.
