  • An amazing book

Laurin Wittig has become one of my favorite authors. She has a way of placing you within the story. I could see so many of the things that happened from Elena running away to her healing Liam after a fire. Elena has been cursed with healing powers. Her mother had the same powers but died in childbirth. Elena tried her best to save her but has always felt guilty for not being able to. Her father dies and her clan is a mess. Elena is by rights the next Clan Chieftian. Enter Dougal of Dunsmore. He tries to possess Elena and to take over the clan. He also causes trouble with the neighboring Clan MacMachlan. The Clan MacMachlan is being lead by Symon. He thinks he is dying and has terrible headaches. He doesn't realize that Dougal is really his half brother who is out for revenge until his brother Ranald gets kidnapped by Dougal. Elena is saved by Symon as she runs away from Dougal. He takes her to a cottage where an old woman tells him of a prophecy about Elena and his clan. Symon begs Elena for help to cure his ailment. He gently woos her and she realizes she has nothing to fear from him. I loved learning about the different herbs Elena used and finding out how they all were used. I also enjoyed watching Elena learn to trust herself and how she learned to trust those around her. Symon is at his best when he can take care of someone and that someone became Elena. He thought she was beautiful outside and quickly learned how sweet and caring she was on the inside also. I will be continue to read all of Ms. Wittig's books. I hope you will also.

    Thanks for your feedback!
