5 Star Review of The Dom Identity (Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded #2) by Lexi Blake   I know when I start a book by Lexi Blake that I am in for a riveting read and The Dom Identity was exactly that. This is Michael Malone and Vanessa Vale’s story. Michael is a man of secrets and after watching his brother and close friends fall in love he has to wonder if there is something missing in his life? When his latest assignment sees him up close and personal with Vanessa he has no idea of the havoc that is about to reign down on his life. Vanessa is a woman on a mission, determined to find a killer. Infiltrating Lodge Corp to investigate her suspects, she also plays at The Club, a BDSM club run by Julian Lodge which is where she meets Dom, Michael. As they explore BDSM together a relationship develops, although neither are aware of the secrets they hold. What happens when all is revealed? Will Vanessa be able to forgive Michael? The chemistry and passion that sizzles between Michael and Vanessa is steamy. When danger rears it’s head and Vanessa is in the killer’s sight, Michael will have to use all his training to save Vanessa. This is a fast paced story filled with suspense, danger, angst, intrigue, heat and emotions that had me on the edge of my seat with a number of twists and turns. The journey that Michael and Vanessa embark on is rocky but oh how it was worth it. Another phenomenal read from Lexi Blake.

  • Kept me on my toes!

Michael and Vanessa certainly kept me on my toes, because every time I thought things were going one way, they twisted and went another! Michael is pretty woebegone at the start of this book; he feels everyone is moving on with life and he is stuck where he always was. Vanessa would love to move on, but she keeps betting pulled back into a life she is trying to leave behind. Preconceived notions are rampant themes in this story, and I love how they are smashed and a more positive thought processes replaces them. Vanessa and Michael have these themselves, and when down, play to them. Together, they learn they don’t have to be what others think, what they think they need to be, how they need to be, they just need to be, and be happy that way. Great moments with the Taylor-Lodge family, a few other Sirens that made me so happy, along with new and old MT people. And can I say that when Kyle gets his story, we get some mama and papa bear smack downs from Grace and Sean, a la their story, along with Kyle and MaeBe getting their well deserved licks into the bad lady!!!

  • So excited for Michael’s story!

Lexi Blake has…finally…given us Michael Malone’s story and it was so worth the wait! While Michael was introduced in the main Masters & Mercenaries series, his story comes in as the second of the Reloaded subseries…or as I call it, the “straddle generation”. He’s younger than the founding McKay-Taggart members, but older than the next generation of Taggart/McKay/Miles/Dean etc children. We’ve been introduced to both brand new as well as “classic” and familiar characters. Longtime readers will be thrilled to see well-loved old friends, but new readers might need a few pages to figure out who’s who. Michael and Vanessa are as alike as the are different. They both wear masks to hide behind, as both a side effect of their jobs as well as t guard against anyone getting too close. Each is hiding a secret from the other when they meet through Julian and Danielle Lodge (Siren series crossover!). He’s investigating her while she’s doing a bit of snooping herself…all while under the guise of a BDSM training relationship. Michael is so sure she’s a gold digging bar girl that I was actually gleeful when he started to fall for her. Vanessa is so much more than how she is portrayed. Blake really uses the abusive and invasive nature of the press, and especially the paparazzi, as a villain in this story. It’s both timely and horrifying, and makes the reader really think about the difference between fan and fanatic. But above all else is Michael and Vanessa and their red hot chemistry. It’s hard to play favorites with all great couples in this series, but these two rank in my top ten. I like their simple getting to know you scenes as much as those in the bedroom or playroom. Their story was so worth the wait!

  • Smoke and mirrors

You know when you start an M&T story you won't be able to put it down! Intense, nail biting, action packed, with hot alpha males and Ian Taggart! This story will not disapoint and will hit all your buttons. Julian Lodge, Ian Taggart friend and nemesis needs help from Ian and his operators. He suspects his wife new assistant and former actress Vanessa Hale of stealing money from her company and snooping around. Her sister used to have the job before she died in an accident. However, Vanessa is looking to get into The Club, Lodge's club and needs a tarining Dom to help her. Micheal Malone has been a bit lost aince he broke his engagement and this op can be what he needs to get out of his funk or so he thinks? Where Vanessa goes the press follows and crucify her for her poor choice in life, when she married a billionaire 50 years older than her. She has been called everything under the sun, but Micheal soons realizes that she more than the tabloids describe. They will take you on this crazy ride that only Ian Taggart/Lexi Blake can orchestrate with it's nail bitting action and intense attraction between the characters. I loved everything about this story and everybody would wish to be part of this family!!! Trouble is brewing and coming their way and I can't wait to see what these characters are up against. I volunteered to review this amazing story.

  • Romance that evokes all the feels

Another fabulous addition to the Masters and Mercenaries series The Dom Identity contains all the things that, for me, make a solid romance A solid storyline supported with a stellar cast of characters who are easy to relate too Angst that hits home Underlying suspense that stays just out of touch for the reader evoking the urge to peek ahead to ensure a HEA and romance that evokes all the feels Michael was so quick to believe what he read. Not everyone could be wrong, right? She was a job and he would not fall for her fragile feminine act. He would uncover her deception while keeping his word as her training dom - Easy Vanessa was tired, when this was over she could rest. Broke and emotionally ravaged she placed all her strength into uncovering the truth. She would play one lasts role, it was what she was good at after all. I was really mad at Michael for how easily he crossed that line. I know I probably would have done the same and it was not with malicious intentions. He tried My heart broke for Vanessa. To live in a world where you could trust no one. This has just the right amount of angst, suspense, and romance to keep you right on the edge. You can read this as a standalone with no problem though it does have characters from previous books. You can count on wanting to read the whole series after. Yeah it is that good and the characters are that great
