  • loved it

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lucien and Hannah’s story has a few twists and turns that I didn’t expect. The characters are well developed and Martin does a fantastic job of peeling back their layers. I had a difficult time putting this book down. There are a few very steamy scenes. “…neither of them were looking at the stars anymore. They were both fixed on one another as if there were no sky overhead or groat their feet. As if the ball behind them did not exist, and neither did any excuse not to touch her. Kiss her.” Bravo! I hope there are more books planned for these characters and for Hannah’s friends.

  • A different type of couple, very entertaining.

I found this to be an entertaining story. I loved the friends and look forward to each of their stories. This was Hannah's story. She was so fixated on what other's thought of as faults that she almost lost her true love. Lucien was captivated from the beginning, but his ineptness at dealing with his feelings and people kept getting in the way. I enjoyed their interactions with each other and fell in love along with Hannah and Lucien. I loved the support she received from her family and her friends, even though some of that went a bit sideways. I recommend this book who those who enjoy the more flawed characters instead of just beautiful people. I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

  • Fantastic Read

What a wonderful start to the new series Wedding a Wallflower. From the first page to the last you will spellbound by The Earl's Hoyden. Madeline Marten has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, with a slow-burn romance, uncertainties, easy flowing dialogue and with a strong plot that leaves you eagerly anticipating the next in the series.

  • Charming, engaging Regency romance

I loved this charming Regency romance. Hannah grabbed my attention from the first scene and the banter and relationship that developed between Hannah and Lucien was engaging. Anyone who has ever experienced hurtful comments or rejection because they don’t fit society’s norm will be drawn to this book. The angst level, to me, was perfect and I appreciated the “realness” of the main characters in this story. Neither Hannah or Lucien are perfect but they may be perfect for each other - what could be better. I can’t wait to follow the stories of Hannah’s friends.
