OK but marred by the editing

This is probably true to the secret Victorian erotica that emerges from time to time. The plot seems over the top but probably not so in terms of the reality of such entities as the Hellfire Club. Unfortunately the reading experience is marred by the seemingly indifferent editing e.g. at one point Ronan's clock rises. REALLY??? When our heroine is introduced to the Sheik she is introduced as Ms Smith. While politically correct for the 21st century in which this has been written it is an anachronism of the worst sort. The term 'Ms' has only been in common usage since the second half of the 20th century; to suggest that it would have been in widspread or even recognisable use in the 19th century is laughable. Finally the concept of the possessive apostrophe seems to be totally foreign. It seems only to have been recognised when used with a character's name but left out in almost every instance when it should have been used. This may seem very nit-picky (if such a word exists) but if you expect your readers to pay for the privilege of reading your work then it is not too much to ask that you make sure that the editing has been worthwhile.
