    The Eyre Affair

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the whole time travel /inside the book concept and didn't want to put it down.

    It wanders on its own

Parallel universes within fiction - within fiction... Surprisingly easy to follow if you don't try too hard. I cannot compare this to anything else I've read, reviews mentioning Douglas Adams do both an injustice. The pace of the plot keeps the reader interested, with plenty of character development, although there's (deliberately?) little subtly. Well, first in the series and good enough to get the next one read.

    Off the wall humour

Beautifully written, Jasper Fforde obviously revels in the use of the English language. The book would be unputdownable if it were not for the fact that the reader needs to rest the laughing muscles occasionally.

    Good but Weird

A joy to read but lot going on. Fforde has created a fascinating world and intriguing character in Thursday Next. I would read the sequel
