    Thanks for your feedback!

    A very satisfying read

Old fashioned style of story telling (but the original was first published early in 20th century) which took a bit of getting used to but very enjoyable just the same. Plot was very detailed and the fact that mistresses had the same name as one another and their seducers had (from different families)had the same given and family names made for some confusion in the already confused state of this reader. What surprised me most was the amount of travel undertaken by most of the characters from regions as far apart as Scandinavia, France and Italy which seemed to take only a short period of time for each journey. Nevertheless, a very satisfying read all the way through.

Very good story often a wee bit heard to follow because of names and places.

    Good, but Dated

The plot and its development were well executed. Sometimes the names of the characters were so similar that confusion did arise. Overall, a good novel, but a little old-fashioned in its language and style. which fits in with the time of its first publication
