    Great plot development

As usual, Inspector Rutledge leads us doggedly through each twist and turn as he follows each clue. If a man can be summed up by one word, DETERMINATION would be the one describing Ian Rutledge. Such a complicated man, with so many facets! The Gatekeeper is a very enjoyable story, with believable plot development and a surprising ending.

    The Gate Keeper

I read every Inspector Rutledge stories that I get my hands on. The characters are created with a deep understanding of human nature , and the period after WW1 is well described. The mysteries behind the crimes and behaviours are well hidden and multi-layered.
