    Must read series!!!!

I have read the whole series and eagerly watched for each new book. Monica McCarty brings history to life with engaging characters and the stories of their losses and more importantly their triumphs. Love these books.

    Thank you

Very sad to see the books end. A great final ending. I will miss all the characters. Seaton was always my favourite!

Ended with a whimper not a bang

I have been an avid reader of all the books in the series. Always both the lead male and female characters were strong and the historical events exciting and the romances passionate. None of that was evident in the final book that I expected to go out with a bang. Alex was wishy-washy and Joan was boring and the lead up to Bannockburn could have been much more exciting. It did however tie up all the endings for the other main characters in the other books. It was an excellent series that I am sorry to see end. Thank you Monica for several hours(days) of great reading.

    The Ghost by Monica McCarty

The Ghost by Monica McCarty is the final book in her "Highland Guard" series. Each book can be read as stand alone. I was sad to see this series end, but all good things must. I love this series, these Highlanders are simply mesmerizing. However, to me, "The Ghost" was lacking the chills and thrills, the high energy and the intensity of the others. It starts out a bit slow to me, but does pick up later in the story. I was a wee bit disappointed in both the H/H. Their story was lacking the connection needed for me, to really feel their angst and struggles. I've been waiting for "The Ghost's" story to come to life, and was a bit let down. With this said, this was a well written tale, with an entertaining cast of characters and a modest storyline. The drama and suspense wasn't there until the last half of the book, then the excitement builds to a climatic ending. Ms. McCarty is a masterful storyteller, one who draws the reader into her stories and holds them in awe. Her historical details are fantastic and brings the history of the Scottish struggles and challenges to life, through the pages of a great book. I would suggest picking up "The Ghost" for yourself and see what you think. I can't wait for the next grand adventure from Ms McCarty. Received for an honest review from Net Galley.
