    Wow!!!!

Can this book please carry on...... it's been a while since I read a story that really motivated me to keep going. A story that becomes alive with the pictures and feelings in your head and heart. The girl you left behind is a story about war, sorrow, hope, love and much more. Ms Moyes takes those emotions and writes them into a story that has excellent facts about the time period and manages to relate it to our time and day. Sophie is a wonderful and complex character, I wishI could read more about her life and her family in France. Liv is a messed-up, badly hurt woman that makes choices that I would not have done......but it all has a place in the plot. Read this book!!!!

The best reads I've had in ages!

Really loved this book, I rarely write reviews but think this novel really deserves it! I loved Sophie character in the book, the part in which you are back in time is really so entrancing I was quite disappointed when we returned to present times.. But following afterwards I also grew to enjoy the story which unfolded, and took great notice on the similarities between the two women's circumstances. And the ending, absolutely epic!

    Compellingly readable

Ducking between a small town in France during the Occupation of WW1 and present day London, this intriguing story interweaves lives and threads, linked by a very special portrait. Really enjoyed this book. It kept me hooked and page-turning till the very end.
