    STEAMPUNK MACHINATIONS!!!

Heads up! Anne blew me away with this incredible, refreshing approach, uniquely her own, playing out all the chaos and mayhem, thrusting this baby into a tizzy with astonishing results, melding it together piece by piece seamlessly. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, stalling shenanigans and throwing this little fella into a raging tempest, blowing it into a tailspin with a life altering, mind-blowing culmination. Sparks fly as drama, tension, lies, blackmail, treachery and mounting suspense spirals, blasting this baby to life beautifully. Add distress, turmoil and perplexing situations along with a boatload of secrets while dodging dastardly intentions, makes for one block busting adventure. The attraction and chemistry sizzles through the pages, alluring and mesmerizing, grounding in it's strength and awe-inspiring in it's depth. The characters are realistic and genuine with traits and qualities that balance and blend into outstanding personalities. The scenes are colorfully descriptive its easy to interpret each scenario as they play out perfectly. Remarkable job Anne, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

A great start to a compelling series.

I really enjoyed this story. It is an inventive, and engaging, "steam-punkified" version of Victorian London with compelling characters; intrepid women and dashing men. It is so fun that I immediately bought and started the next book in the series, "The Silver Skull"--and I do not do that often.

    A Perfect For Me Read

I love romance, suspense, action, and science fiction. This book manages to tick all the boxes, and includes intelligent characters, a thrilling plot, and originality. The opening sentence was enough to grab and hold my attention, but it was the author’s magic with words, allowing the story to flow naturally, that provides effortless enjoyment. I received a complimentary copy of this book, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

    great Steampunk romance and intrigue

This is not my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a combing steampunk, romance and intrigue. She was a first year end student and was brilliant. She had almost perfected a golden spider to repair her brother's damaged legs. She started working in one of her professor's labs. There was a lot of intrigue, but the ending was great. Thrown into a Steampunk World

While it is certainly not my main genre, I like to dabble with a little steampunk now and then because I find its quirky mix of true science, pseudoscience, and fascination with nascent mechanical technology to be fun. I'm not really that familiar with this Elemental world that this book is supposed to be a part of. As such, it felt a little confusing to be thrown right into it at the beginning, as it is a very complex world indeed. Right away in the first scene, for instance, we learn of odd malfunctioning techno gadgets and a mysterious infestation of Kraken in the Thames! Given that it is steampunk, I let myself just go along for the ride. While the mystery element ended up being not terribly mysterious, I still enjoyed both the technical aspects that make steampunk so much fun as well as the human aspects. I definitely felt for the heroine who was breaking grounds as a medical student. She and her sister did not see eye-to-eye on this. The hero was well drawn, too. I thought they had good chemistry. In general, I found this to be a fun, steampunk read. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
