    The Gray And Guilty Sea

I did not know what to expect from this author as he was new to me. I was not certain what to expect and all I can say was this author was a really good surprise. From the moment I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down and that was surprising because I usually only read female mystery authors. Scott Carter created a wonderful character in Garrison Gage, a real curmudgeon who's only true desire is to stay under the radar and be left alone. One day, Garrison finds the body of a young girl dead in the sea. He tries to ignore the situation but becomes intrigued by her and the feeling that she did not just drown. Before he knows it, he's involved and investigating whether people want him to or not. This book was a page turner for me and it was good from first paragraph until last. If you haven't tried Scott William Carter before, I highly recommend him. I am putting him on my 'keeper' list and am looking forward to reading his next book.

    Gage is a great character!

I really enjoyed this book. Well written, it captivated me from the start and I was sad when it had to end! Gage is a likeable but not very friendly man; one suffering with personal demons from a peppered past. As the story progresses we get insights into his life and the circumstances that brought him to the Oregan coastal town where he is just beginning to get his life back. The story is fast paced and exciting, carrying the reader along a twisted path full of bumps and turns while delving to Garrison's emotional state and what makes him tick. Good book...give it a read, you won't be disappointed!
