  • Compelling and poignant

Wow--this is a powerful story that is a compelling, page-turner of a read while also being poignant and thought-provoking. The characters felt so real I can still picture them in my mind's eye after having closed the back cover and put the book down. I'm only sorry I can't read it again for the first time. Highly recommended.

  • DNF; Got to page 80

There was lots of hype over this book, so I was looking forward to reading it. However, I had to stop reading 1/5 of the way through. Too many characters and story lines to follow and I got disinterested very fast.

  • A well written balance of fun and heartache.

I really enjoyed how this book travels through decades and builds the characters in fleeting moments. I had a hard time stepping away from this book and in the end I truly felt it in my heart - the full circle of time/life/longing and loss for these characters.

  • Heartwarming, funny and sad

A beautiful novel which follows the lives of various people, gay and straight, and how their lives were impacted by the AIDS crisis. The stories of the several characters are beautifully drawn. It’s easy to love several of them and hate others. I’ve often said that life doesn’t get easier, just different. In this book, some lives do get easier as they grow and see past events in a different light. I was left feeling sad as I finished this book but glad I’d read it again for a second time.
