  • Essential reading for anyone working at a startup

Absolutely riveting book, could not put it down until I finished it. Just started working at a startup a few months ago, and this book gives me a new perspective on our team, our business and especially our leadership.

  • Absolutely essential reading for anyone serious about their career

One of the veterans of the earliest dot-com battles tells what it was like being a startup CEO in an era when you needed to build something a lot bigger than a smartphone app to have a business. What pulled me in was how frank Horowitz is about the decisions he had to make and how ill-equipped he was. He's able to relate to the inexperienced CEO he was and invites the reader to occupy that role. This is not a rah-rah business story. It's about layoffs, bankruptcy, bad IPOs, furious customers, and how he dealt with them, sometimes not successfully. High stakes. Varying outcomes. Essential reading.

  • Great for all aspiring founders

This book should be read by all wanna be entrepreneurs (whether by choice or acciddent). You will come to understand that the physical and mental trials you are experiencing see the same as everyone who walked before you.

  • Epic Summary of an intense voyage

I initially put off reading this book due to the usual lame excuses such as 'having more important things to do'. Once I picked this up I could not put it down. Insightful and valuable advice for any self employed or business person. Essential reading.

  • No sugar coating

This felt more like a real-life memoir, complete with blemishes, than a preachy, self-help guide to happiness. As an entrepreneur I highly recommend this read, as it includes very practical advice from someone who has actually had to sit in the chair and make the decisions. Thanks Ben.
