    Rekindle the heat

This is book # 4 in The Boys Of Summer series. While this book is just fine as a standalone novel, it would be easier to understand and enjoy if you read the series in order as intended. All the books in this series feature hot men and steamy love stories. Connor is about to retire, as he is traded back home to the Sonics. He wants to put his life in order, and has an idea what he wants for his life after baseball. The biggest part of that is Tracy. His college girl, she was the one that got away. Tracy has been through the ringer with her ex-husband. She now is a single mom to four kids and is not sure where to fit Connor into her life. Could he accept her as she is? Is the past heat something that can be rekindled? This was an amazing story about what is important in life. There are so many parts to this book that I would love to point out, but do not want to spoil for the reader. I will say, there are surprises in store! Great book for the series and an excellent read. ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley.com and its publisher for an honest review only.

    realistic and sweet

For some reason I didn’t really like the first book in this series, which meant that I skipped the next one but the couple I’ve read since have been fantastic. There isn’t a lot of drama involved in The Heat Is On – just a straight forward story about two old lovers who have to decide if they are willing to get involved. With the fact that Tracy has four kids there are a lot of extra hearts to break if things go bad so they have to take that into consideration. It is such a realistic issue for divorced people starting to date again and I think that Rose handles it very well. Connor is sexy, strong and truly a good man. He’s settled, both professionally and as a man, and he’s entering a time in his life when baseball isn’t going to be his sole focus. Being back home again means that he has the opportunity to look up his first love – the one woman he hasn’t been able to forget – which is super sweet. While Tracy may be a little overwhelmed as a newly single mom with four little ones, she’s definitely smart enough to give someone like Connor (who is the super-sexy total package) a chance. But it definitely doesn’t mean that things are going to be smooth for them :) We’re also treated to some fun in the locker room with the Sonics. I loved getting little glances at past couples but I think that Rose also does a great job of capturing the brotherhood amongst the players – their roles within the organization, not just on the field – which brings extra heart to all of her stories. But if this is your first read in this series, don’t worry because it can definitely stand on its own. Sexy ball players and sweet romance are the things I’m starting to associate with Rose’s stories and I really hope that she continues to knock it out of the park :) (Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review)

    Another good story, no cliffhanger.

This is book number four in the Bad Boys of Baseball series (originally called The Boys of Summer series) but each book stands alone and you won’t feel like you’ve missed anything if you start with this one. Be sure to read the others, though because they’re good books. The Heat is On is a great title for this book; it’s filled with heat between Connor and Tracy. They were an item in college but he left her for baseball. Now that she is divorced, and he is back in town, Connor wants to connect with her again and see what happens. There are a lot of ups and downs in their new relationship. Connor isn’t sure if he can handle her four kids and her ex is making trouble. While I enjoyed this book quite a bit it didn’t captivate me quite as much as the previous ones in this series. It’s entirely possible that it was just my mood when I read this one but the writing didn’t seem to flow quite as good as the earlier ones. Still, all in all, I liked this one and definitely will read more in this series and more books from this author. A word of warning – if steamy scenes and the F word seriously offend you then you might want to skip this one (but you’ll be missing a good book). I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    Keeps me coming back....

I am not a sports fan. My least favorites are football and baseball. So if I can sit through a story centered around a subject I hate it has to be good. Katie Rose keeps me coming back to experience the nostalgia, romance, successes and failures of The Boys of Summer. With The Heat is On she really outdid herself. She gave young love a second chance despite the obstacles that pulled them apart. The fact that Tracy, the beautiful girl Connor never forgot happened to be a single mother of four was an added bonus. Connor a successful athlete was just as enamored with the mature women as he was with the beautiful young girl. Because he saw her through the eyes of love. I received an ARC of the heat is on in exchange for an honest review. Lovely story of life's little surprises.
