Life is more than this game

What an emotional rollercoaster! The Trio - Leo, Nate and Quinn - start out as inseparable but circumstances and time change the order of things. The effect of the health of one of the Trio on the other two is at times devastating, as is the ultimate effect of those health issues. The characters are vivid and real, and the effect of events on the three of them are at times uplifting and at other times tragic. Be prepared to have a box of tissues at hand as you read about the changing nature of the relationships between the three. The nature of events makes some of the characters stronger; at the same time, the lesser characters are the ones who round out the story arc. You have to love Gia and Zelda, respect Tate and Tuck and feel a little sorrow for Matt. There's also the wonderful relationships between the three main sets of parents as you watch as their children go on to their ultimate futures. I hope there are more books to come in this series - I know book 4 is out but I'd like some resolution for Quinn's white blonde college roommate with Nate's college roommate. Even if you don't understand American football (I'm in Australia) the reality of sport on private lives is universal. This is a series that is well worth reading.
