  • It feels timely, real and scary

I like 'realistic' post-apocalyptic tales so this one was right up my alley and scary as hell because it feels so feasible. Add in the additional twists of an unsolved murder and you're in for a great read. My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end and I'm dying to know what happens next...sequel Hanna?

  • The Last

This book was not entirely what I was expecting. It was written very plainly (which is not always a bad thing and in this case it made the book seem like a quick read). It did keep me interested throughout, there were no real lulls in the story that bored me. I think the problem is that the author didn't know what she wanted the book to be: post-apocalyptic, murder mystery, socio-political commentary, interrelationship analysis, etc. It left the novel feeling too fragmented and weak. The neat and tidy ending seemed to just be slapped together as well.

  • I am beyond impressed

This is a multi-layered story that kept my interest to the last page. Difficult to summarize, because it takes place after irresponsible governments devastate the wold with tit for tat nuclear attacks. But it is not a political tale. It is a survival story, yet it is also murder mystery, a conflict between what was right before "it happened" and what is right after. Think about it, how would you react if you were alive after such an event and had to cope to pick up the pieces together with a bunch of strangers in a Hotel in the Alps? Hanna Jamison never dropped a thread in this story and left the reader with plenty of food for thought after she wrapped it up.

  • The book that could have been

I kept waiting for something to happen...and nothing did. It was a story with a lot of potential but just failed to deliver. The ending is trite and disappointing.

  • Not what I thought it would be

I don't think I was as impressed as others with this book. I had heard really good things about it, and it was ok, but I didn't think there was anything different or suspenseful about it than any other book in this genre. There were some parts that had me hooked, but not many. The ending kind of let me down too.
