    Mystery of murder and dementia

This is the second book of The Lewis Trilogy. Peter May's characters are real, they do not possess super powers and luck does not fall from the stars. They are people whose lives are not unlike others. They are flawed people. The stories take place in a very interesting locale which gives the story an emotional backdrop and environmental sea saw. Underneath everything is a very good mystery. You must read all of the books of The Lewis Trilogy the storytelling is brilliant. Read them in order. I intend to read all of Peter May's books!

    Lewis Man

I could not put it down. Now I will have to spend the next few days catching up on my sleep before I start the next book in the series.

    The Lewis Man

Well written! Couldn't put it down! Beautifully woven story- going back in time and then being in the present. The suspense at the end was masterful!

    The Lewis Man

Absolutely loved it. The care and attention to the details of weather, life on the Islands past and present, weaving the lives of the characters together so beautifully, and last but not least a great mystery which was enthralling to the end. Can't wait for the next one!

Part 2 of the Lewis Trilogy

Along with Finn in the book, I keep trying to find answers myself. How does Peter May write in such a way that I find it almost impossible to put down the book without picking it up again after a few minutes? Somehow I feel I become part of these stories and putting the book down is like putting my life on hold. I need to know what happens next – to experience it in full Technicolor with all the sounds, smells, and sensations that are as real as life. I am torn now. So eager to begin the third book of the trilogy; so sad because the ending of this saga is approaching. And yet, and yet . . . wild horses couldn’t stop me from opening the next book.
