    The long sunset

My first Jack Mc Devitt was Ancient Shores and I haven’t stopped reading him. Stephen King was right when he said he’s a little bit Asimov and Clarke. I like Heinlein also for imagination. Someone has sent a picture from 7000 light years in the past would we be brave enough to find out who? Thankfully they have Priscilla “Hutch” Hutchins to be in on the rescue. If you’re familiar with the series then you will also know about the monument makers. Those mysterious aliens that leave strange statues and monuments all around the galaxies . Usually all Hutch has ever seen in her wondrous travels are dead rotting worlds. But this time, Life!

    Nice story

Nice story with a nice ending. Unfortunately, there lacked a bit more tension. I think the story is bigger but has been condensed. It lacks the same mystery and action that his lost fleet series, which I enjoyed immensely.

    A waste of time.

Shallow and implausible plot. Virtually know character development. Aliens are ridiculous.
