    Medieval Short Story Anthology

The Making of a Man by Rachel Rossano is a short story anthology that describes the background of the Earl of Dentin, a character who appears in her Novels of Rhynan Series. The series is set in a land very much like medieval Europe, but the countries and their histories were very different. Each story is taken from Dentin’s background and builds on his character, showing readers why he became the man he was in the Rhynan Series. The anthology contains eight stories in all, varying in length. I enjoyed the stories. Each one was interesting and unique from the others, telling about Dentin’s childhood years, important people in his life, difficult choices he made, and battles he faced. I am not generally a person who enjoys short stories because they’re just so SHORT, but I still liked the anthology and the background it provided for a character I had read about. If you enjoyed the rest of the Rhynan series, The Making of a Man is a must. I would also recommend it to fans of clean medieval fiction. I received a complementary copy of this book. All opinions are my own, and I am not obligated to provide a positive review.
